Beast is there at dinner, and it's the only place you can get alcohol in MK (also dinner).
It's great for prepark open breakfasts, too, mostly for the entry advantage (Main Street photos, deep in Fantasyland, and possibly of getting on 7DMT before rope droppers).

The grey stuff is really good for dessert. There aren't a ton of great sit down dining options in the MK, so that makes it a more valuable reservation.
we've eaten there for breakfast, lunch and dinner. and yeah, i kind of feel the same way.... the food isn't all that great. But its a really neat "theme" set up, and seeing the beast was cool at night. I think its the best for a "pre-park opening" breakfast reservation. its really close to 7 dwarves mine train and peter pan. they both get REALLY long lines right after rope drop... so its nice to be right there and be first in line for those. AND since its quick service restaurant, its nice and fast :-) PLUS we didn't have to buy a meal for DS. he's 5 and eats like a bird sometimes- i wasn't about to pay $14 for cereal for him!! so he just ate the pastries that came with DH and my meals. so it saved us some money too.

It's one of the few decent places to eat in MK. Most of the food in MK is pretty mediocre. It's not great by any normal standard, but it's better than the rest of the options!
I haven't tried Skipper's Canteen yet, so I don't know how that compares.
So you need reservations for breakfast for BOG breakfast? Hard to get?
I would recommend a reservation. It can be hard to get initially but I have always ended up with what I wanted. I am sure time of year and what time you want to eat plays a role.
We like PPO breakfast. It nice to get in earlier. The food is decent. We have never needed to order a meal for everyone. The pastries and sharing have always been enough for us. They will let you in early for PPO. Not sure how strict they are on times as the day goes on. If you get there early enough you can definitely be at the front of the line before rope drop crowds at attractions in Fantasyland.
Only been there once for lunch but it was fine. I would say slightly higher quality than the ave QS.
We thought the food and service at our dinner was excellent. The biggest problem we had was not being seated until 40 minutes after our ADR. given the timing of the ADR and the ages of our kids made this a bigger than it might be for others. Dinner is the only place to get alcohol in the MK.
Overall we like it.
We had lunch at Skippers on our most recent trip. I would highly recommend.

Lunch is crazy there. The last time we were there you picked your own seats though so maybe its not as crazy now that they are seating you (at least I think they are doing that now).
My kids love dinner there and ask for it every trip. Mainly for The Beast and just being in his castle. We've always had great meals there.

I love the theme and the food. I also like getting a drink with dinner. We do dinner there and it is usually DH's one request in my planning is to eat dinner at the beasts castle.
Get the breakfast reservation for before park open. It's also a great value if you are on the free dining plan.
We had early breakfast reservations, but the Disney dining plan was down. So they transferred our reservation to lunch and we got to ride 7DMT three times before the park was even open. It was awesome.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
If we also get a dinner reservation there what would you choose?
You can request a room but it's not guaranteed and can make your wait longer. The west wing is very dark and has 'lightning' so it can be scary for kids. We never make requests and have always ended up in the ballroom.

I like breakfast, lunch, and dinner there for different reasons. Breakfast is way overpriced but we still do it when paying OOP because it's worth it to avoid crowds.
Make sure you preorder for breakfast! You can do it just an hour ahead of time (or much longer).

I've only been there for lunch, but I really enjoyed it both times. The biggest draw for us is the atmosphere and being in the castle, but I really like the tuna nicoise salad. Both times I've gotten it, the quality is much better than typical park food. If you're on a dining plan, lunch is a great use of a QS credit.

How do you preorder?
Should be a link in your ADR on MDE 30 days before your ADR. I think it is available on the app but if you don't see it I would try it on a computer.
