So my immediate thought was No, there's no need at that age. But after reading everyone's personal stories about not being allowed to and being embarrassed because of it.... My mind has been changed. I'll let my girls do it when they ask, I don't want them sneaking around and hurting themselves. And I don't want them to be embarrassed about how they look.

Yes. DD was 9 I believe when she felt very self-conscience about her leg hair so I let her shave. She realized very fast that it sucks and isn't fun. She's only shaved a few times since then but now she just turned 11 and the kid has the hairiest pits. Her underarm hair is long, black and curly, but as of now it doesn't bother her so I let her decide if she wants to shave it.
I started shaving at 10yrs old because I'm a hairy beast.

I would let her shave. I started shaving pretty late cause I had super blonde hair on my legs and armpits but it's not a bad thing to get practice in hygiene. I don't see an issue with it

I definitely would, but I would also keep talking about individuality and we're all different and unique and perfect as we are blah blah blah just so that she knows she can if she wants to but even if all the other kids are doing it she doesn't have to if/when she doesn't want to.

Yes, I'd show her how to do it properly. I was kind of in the same boat. My friends were all shaving, but my mom hadn't brought it up to me yet. I was embarrassed to ask her, but also embarrassed to not be shaving. I had very fine blonde hair and my mom's reasoning was similar to others, plus "once you start shaving, you can't stop." I ended up teaching myself.
Oh someone mentioned Nair, that stuff would take off multiple layers of skin. And I can still smell it!
My DD is 6 and already has a TON of dark arm & leg hair. My niece went through this too when she was the same age. It's the Portuguese!
I already told myself that I would follow SIL's lead and how she handled it with my niece. I am pretty sure she was shaving by 7 or 8 because kids were so cruel.
My DD has started to notice her dark hair and has made small comments about teasing here and there. If she asks I will do everything I can to make it as easy as possible for her.
