These were my exact words after reading the first article yesterday. About the only thing I'm willing to give Nate Parker at this point is my big black ass to kiss. And the same goes for the other celebrities trying to shame black women into the importance of seeing this bullshit.

And really, why is it so hard to be historically accurate? The fact that, as a people, we have managed to survive to this point without collectively going batshit crazy is testament enough to the fact that there are plenty of interesting stories to tell without making up shit!

This argument is just so f*cked up.  I mean, I only read one article about it when this thread first started, but even if you go only based HIS side of the story he invited his friend to have sex with a semi-conscious woman, and then lied to her about it afterwards in a recorded conversation.  So, he was technically acquitted of rape.  Even what he admitted to was reprehensible, and no sane person can rationalize it under the auspices of "being a dog."

Thank you.  I just responded to her text.  Generally, I don't experience any type of real emotion in these types of conversations, I'm just not wired that way.  But I really don't like that comment that she made to our other friend.  Like, you're trying to be personal with that.  Over a movie.  And a stranger.  Who is a rapist.  That's just way too far.

I wonder if we were on the same comment thread. You can't argue with people like that. Guess what Nate Parker could've done not to be in this mess? Not rape that girl, for one. I get the frustrations of Black men getting their past brought out when they're succeeding but this isn't like that and it's shitty to use that argument in this situation.
