I worked until 2am last night so I could take most of today and clean out our basement. My parents are coming this weekend and helping us replace the last of our galvanized water pipes. AKA the least satisfying reno project ever.
We have always planned on hanging swings for the girls in the basement (hello Michigan winter), but we decided to do a larger setup down there for as their Christmas present. My dad is going to build a balance beam, monkey bars, and a climbing wall. Last night I talked DH into the idea of setting up the girls old loft bed platform down there. I'm super pumped about it because they have SO many toys and I was struggling to think of alternatives. This will be super useful at keeping them active in the winter and saving my sanity!

It's supposed to actually be cooler (like, in the 60s!) this weekend, so we're going to the local apple/pumpkin/all things fall place on Sunday and our Home Show on Saturday.
As regards stuff around the house, I need to clean like whoa. R is still moving stuff into the shed.

bunnymendelbaum, you have to PIP when it's done! Our basement is almost done though you're making me feel a little guilty for making it more of an adult space (ahem, pool table )
mrs.jacinthe, We're also going to a fall festival to pick pumpkins, drink cider, etc. I need to finish up some more house projects and cleaning too.
I guess going into labor is always a possibility too. I'd love to squeeze in a trip to Great Falls to see the falls after all this rain in the Midatlantic.

simpsongal, - I will, but it won't be pretty! Our basement isn't "finished". Its exposed brick wall, wood rafters and concrete floor. We have foam tiles to put down, but I'm not sure I want to spend $$ to make it look less dungeon-y! HA. The girls like it down there already. Low standards.

I am WFH today and slacking at it... taking the time to build two Kvallits I picked up last weekend (literally; there was no one in the Ikea parking lot to help me -- those things are HEAVY!). Since I gave my son and his fiancee two C&B cabinets we had, I have to find a home for all the photos and games that were previously stored away... so this will put my professional Ikea-building skills to work.
I am driving to CT this weekend with family, to see family, so my H and son will continue (and hopefully finish) building the floating deck project we started last week (we ran out of PT 2x4s and so had to wait for an HD delivery, which came yesterday). Sadly it is raining here (simpsongal, we must be all but neighbors) so not sure what they will be able to accomplish, and we have 20 people coming for H's birthday next Friday night so time is of the essence!
bunnymendelbaum, I want to come back as your daughters -- that basement gym sounds amazing!
We are going back to the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot on Saturday. It is our anniversary (39 years!), and we have reservations for a Mediterranean Cheeses and Wines seminar, where we will "taste amazing wines and cheeses deeply rooted in ancient Mediterranean diets as well as culture." At 9:15 am. Not my usual breakfast.lol After that we will probably go on a couple of rides and then continue our quest to eat our way around the world.
We have so many projects on the list, but I am really hoping to work on the deck off the back door. We basically rebuilt the structure and temporarily put the boards back on, but we have the composite decking now, so we have have no excuse for not getting it done (aside from heat and rain, but still...). I am hoping that getting that deck done will light a fire under our lazy behinds and will make us want to get the porch/deck done too. That one will definitely be more difficult, because it is almost 20 ft long and we are adding about 4 ft to the width. Also, it connects to the the front porch through the front door, (which I guess is technically a gate, since both sides are outside), and we need to add a step to the outer porch so that it isn't so hard to step up. It is such a high single step right now that it is ridiculous and dangerous. It is going to be a lot of work, but it will make such a big difference to the function from both the front porch side and the inside.
I'm meeting on Friday night (6pm) with a guy from the alarm company we're going to use to sign the contract and then they are installing the base unit on Saturday (my H will be there for that). I was hoping to go take tons of pics of things done at the house but I have a feeling very little will be done. I'm hoping the bathrooms will have been finished (other than paint), but who knows.
My SO is gone until Sunday morning (YASSSS!) so tonight I may hit up Homegoods after work for some shopping. Tomorrow I am hitting our local market and then freaking buying paint! I am SO excited about this! We finally picked out paint for the dining room, great room, entry way, and my bathroom. I also plan on baking cookies and handing some out to the neighbors. Our next door neighbor had a happy hour for us two weekends ago and the other neighbor is a conversation monopolizer. When we got home, my SO said "Wow, she can talk! Do NOT let her around my mother!"....andddd we are pretty sure that neighbor heard him, as the windows were open :/

@juno, Do you mean your first name? Or name for a future child? Either way, I get it. I was irrationally annoyed when my SIL changed her last name to mine. (I didn't change my last name when I got married.) Silly of me, but it felt weird to have the same last name as my SIL.

@juno, - HAHA! Evil indeed. I know someone here named Maria "Romano", she got married and changed her last name. She was one of those people that everyone always referred to with her whole name because there are so many Marias. So it became very confusing when her brother married and woman named Maria and she took his last name. So she is now legally "Maria Romano". So whenever someone tells you, "Oh, Maria Romano just took a trip to San Diego!", you ALWAYS have to ask, which Maria? old Maria Romano or new Maria Romano!?
Happy Anniversary TBM! Ours is Saturday, but we're only at 11 years!
My mom is coming to town this weekend. I had planned to go to the Homecoming football game tonight & then finally move DS2's furniture in his room. (It's been in the garage for 2 weeks.) Both boys had a stomach bug this weekend & now DS2 has a high fever & wont leave my lap, so hard telling what will actually happen!

Thanks! Happy Anniversary to you, too!
The 11th is the steel anniversary. I like that much more than the 39th, which is the lace anniversary. I have just never been a lace fan..

We aren't doing gifts this year, as we've been hemorrhaging money on house projects...but steel is a good one! My H's ring is actually SS as he lost his original ring while swimming in the ocean. $900 gold ring lasted 2 years. Of course he hasn't lost the $25 one! LOL

Oooh...ouch to the lost ring.
We don't usually do gifts for each other, or even really celebrate, but we do use it as an excuse to buy art or something for the house sometimes. I can think of a lot of steel things, like a watch, steel jewelry, steel furniture or decor, kitchen gadgets.....I could go on. It seems like most years have both traditional and nontraditional gift recs and suggested alternate categories, but there aren't even any alternates for lace. It's the doily anniversary. lol

Ha! I don't think I would be quite as mad if my name weren't so uncommon. Both names are rare. Man, the more I think about it the madder I get. Nothing I can do about it, but I cannot BELIEVE he did that. Cannot believe. Without even checking or warning me. Nuclear winter headed his direction from mine. The last name thing has put me over the edge.
In my family it's considered an honor to have a namesake. I have a niece and a baby cousin that share my middle name. I was over the moon. LOL Must be regional or an Irish thing.
I hope I belong here again soon. We put an offer in on an amazing house today. They have until tomorrow to respond. It's a great house in a super desirable area. They dropped $20k on price so we went to the open house and fell in love. Our offer is still pretty low but we know the sale of their new house is contingent on selling this one. We are their first offer after 40 days on a hot market so fingers crossed! If they accept we are making a mad dash to sell ours! Something we didn't plan for another few years.
So needless to say our weekend is full of waiting! And painting the ceiling in the kitchen. Super exciting.
Tomorrow is toddler soccer (who am I?) followed by probably Costco and Lowes. Hoping to try the polyshades on the dresser I posted.
Sunday is finishing painting the garage. I have one wall and the 2 car ceiling left plus some touch up on the 2 story side. My neck hates me from all this painting high up.
ETA: DH aerated and seeded today. All of the sod the builder put in burnt to a crisp. All of the houses in our cul de sac are working on their lawns this weekend.

@juno, - Have you shared your first name? Is it Juno? My 6yo DD insists she wants my last name. I told her that if when she turns 18 she still wants to, then fine by me! (Although her name with DH's last sounds so much better.)
ssmjlm, - My DD1 did one season of Saturday soccer and then asked to stop. She said she didn't want to do any more sports on the weekend. Um....fine by me! I get my weekend back!
