I have a project I want to start an attempt on and it requires 1400yds of fingering weight yarn. I don't even care what color at this point, since before I make the actual item for my friend I want to practice. Where can I get and what brand should I look for for really inexpensive yarn? I don't even care about the quality for this, I just want to practice the techniques and see if I can manage it. Once I can do this, then I'll get the good stuff and make it as a gift.
What type of item is it? Do you have any ideas about what kind of yarn you'd like to use for the item itself? I'd probably want to practice in something with a similar fiber content to what you end up using.
ETA: If I were in the US I'd offer up some leftover fingering to practice with.
But even though $6.49 isn't really expensive, I have a hard time spending that on something that I'm not going to be using the practice project + it'll end up being frogged a million times.
