So I always thought one of the nights on our trip we would get an in room sitter for the kids and DH would go out just the two of us. I made a dinner reservation at Epcot and thought I would reserve the babysitter later.
Until I saw how much it costs. (wilted)
$21 an hour for two kids plus a $2 an hour surcharge for each hour after $9 pm. I like my husband and all but I'm not sure I like hanging out with him to the tune of $23 an hour.
So now maybe I can drop the three year old off at the Kid's Club. It's open from 4 to midnight and it's a flat fee of $55. It looks like fun and we'd only have to manage the baby who would hopefully sleep in the stroller. We would also not have to get on the bus and go back/forth from the parks. I just feel sort of guilty not hanging out with the three year old if he is awake. Also it's anyone's guess whether the one year old will actually sleep.
What would you do? Pay $23 an hour to go out with both kids in bed or $55 for 6 hours and try your best with the one year old?
Anyone have experience with the Kids Club? Lilo's Playhouse looks cool.
I'd try to swing 3 hours of the sitter instead. That's only $11 more than the Kid's club.
Also, you might get lucky like us and get both kids to sleep in the stroller. Then you can walk around world showcase, have a drink and it's not too bad.

There's a four minimum. (wilted)
And I feel like I'd spend at least half of that time getting to/from the parks whereas the Kids Club is just over the monorail. I hope we get double stroller naps at some point during the week too.

Do you have stuff planned for the next day? If you are doing something early or its going to be a long day, I would probably do the sitter so that the kids can get some good sleep.

Wont your youngest be like 18 months? That seems like way more work then the 3.5 year old.
Pay for the babysitter. I'd rather cut back on something else then try to drag an 18 month old out to a super dinner or even walking the showcase while paying for another kid to be in the kids club.

I'd do the sitter. Wrangling a 1+ year at dinner sounds like no fun at all. At that point, I'd just rather have both kids with me and do a date night at home for less.

The baby doesn't talk yet so he's my currently preferred child.
I should probably just get the sitter. I just have sticker shock.
ok my H says it's silly to spend so much on a vacation but to cheap out on our date night so I'm going with the sitter. The kids club looks really cool though. Maybe when the baby is older.
Have fun!! DH and I did a Disney date night for the first time in August, and it was great!! We put DS in the kids club at the Polynesian ( but we just have 1 kid, so the $55 for up to 7 hours including dinner for him was a deal! Lol) DH and i had an awesome dinner at yachtsmen steakhouse, then went and walked around Epcot met baymax lol and rode soarin like 3 times in a row with no wait :-) it really was a fun night!!
I've mentioned this before but for people with kids 4+, the Swan/Dolphin kids club is free and includes dinner. You can't go into a park but heir restaurants are way beyond anything in WDW, especially BlueZoo and Shulas.
Glad you're booking a sitter, NQB, have fun!
I'm looking forward to my youngest being three so we can use the WDW kids clubs. My older one has gone to the Sandcastle Club twice and had fun.

@notquiteblushing, it sounds like you've made up your mind, and given your situation I would probably choose the sitter as well. With that being said, we took my 5 year old daughter to Lilo's Playhouse last Sunday and she LOVED it. It's so pretty and fun looking and they were about to start a cooking class when she got there. We were staying at the Poly so it was convenient of course, but when both kids are older I would definitely consider taking them there.
We had a date night at California Grill and she didn't miss a beat.
I never thought about this before, but now I wonder if we could take DD to the kids' club and then DH and I could spend a night at the Boardwalk. Hmmm..

Yes. There is the Sandcastle Club at Beach Club. We dropped our kids there, had dinner and way too much wine at the Yachstman. We walked the loop afterward. Kids Clubs are open till midnight. Save
Look at fairy godmothers for babysitting. They are a lot cheaper than KNO and one of the two that is endorsed by WDW (I can't recall where I saw that...there are lots of threads if you google, but admittedly many do look older). We are paying $18/hour + $16 travel fee + tip. No minimum. That's for three kids and I think it is only $16/hour if you aren't out past 9 pm. Gertrude is a bit rough sounding on the phone but the reviews I found online were as good as KNO. 407.277.3724.
