We have season tickets this year (this is all so I can go see Hamilton NEXT year). So I will need many outfits. I am thinking of doing Rent the Runway since I had such a good experience last time.
I'm in LA, so I've pretty much seen it all at our theater from super casual to cocktail attire. I usually veer towards business casual -- dress and an open cardigan.
Both of those are cute and would be fine.
Unless you really need a coat for your climate, I wouldn't bring a coat. Too bulky.
I love the red dress. I agree that a cape or a shawl will work, but since you have season tickets, it might make more sense to invest in a wool dress coat, so that you have something to carry you through the seasons. Typically, they have coat check available, so the bulk shouldn't be a problem, but it might be nice to use a shawl as a scarf anyway if you do that in case you get cold during the show (I'm always cold). In terms of accessories, I'd keep the neckline bare because of the cut and go with dangly earrings and a cuff bracelet.
Oh, and I would probably go with black shoes and a black coat. Initially, I thought nude, leopard or even gold for the shoes, but I think the versatility of the black will be good. Something like:
The red dress is super cute! I think a coat would make the most sense as you could use it from Nov to April easily. But I am always cold so that colors my vote.
I love both dresses, especially the red, but I hesitate about wearing it here in the fall/winter. It looks so spring/summery to me. I'm probably alone in this, so maybe don't listen to me. lol.
I work across the street from the theater, we share parking with them. People really run the gamut in terms of what's worn, so don't feel like you have to be super dressed up, especially when it gets really cold. For winter, I'd probably lean more towards dresses with tights and boots, or dressier pants with booties.
