I was talking to someone who happens to work for the same company as you af the local level, and they were saying the prices were outrageous in some areas and going quickly.

Well, I was surprised because this is in Charlotte and my mom's house is competing with new construction there. In DC you are competing with flippers who make all-cash offers

I was surprised when she told me that too. I knew prices were going up and gentrification was happening, but not to that extent that houses were selling in one day.

Oh no.  This reminds me of the time when DS was 9 or 10 and for weeks, he kept asking me if he could try coffee.  Finally, I took him to Starbucks and ordered his coffee.  He totally burned his mouth.  All that time, he didn't know coffee was hot .

We helped SIL & BIL move into their massive new construction home this weekend and now I'm obsessed with moving. We know we will have to move since H has a new job with a crazy commute but I was thinking about moving more along the lines of 2-3 years. I am looking at new builds and the prices are outrageous and out of our reach right at the moment. We'll have to wait until H is at the new job for a little while before the money starts flowing in but it's so tempting to up and go. I'm blown away by the home prices though! The new construction is comparable to the pricing on the older homes.

Definitely worth the trade-off .

I mostly felt like he was straight up crazy lol!  But yes, second to that, definitely awful.  I guess his ignorance came from not growing up with any coffee drinkers (but that's why I didn't even understand why it was appealing to him--although a couple years later, he started waxing poetic about how cool it would be to go in Starbucks and have people know him by name and ask whether he wanted "the usual," so maybe it was mixed up with that).  DH drinks coffee now, but back then he didn't.

@kirkette, I don't know if I missed a post but how was it overall?

@kirkette, Sounds like an incredible experience. Really getting stuff done and helping others is so important. My family experienced Hurricane Andrew and lost our home. It took a long time to live comfortably but we were still better off then a lot of others. The community was never the same which was so strange but it could have been worse.

Do you like RTR and if so, are you open to renting for this? Is it a nighttime wedding or do you just need something that works for night?  Let me find this dress I rented for a cocktail party during the last holiday season.  It could work for a daytime wedding, it's long sleeved and a forest green color.

I have torn up my car and half of my house looking for 1 of dd's shoes. A shoe and sock have completely disappeared. She's only 18 months so it's my fault for losing them since I know she takes them off in the car. I'm pissed because we just bought them Saturday. She wore them once. Omg so I started watching some of American horror story last night. And I thought I'd have a nightmare because I always have vivid dreams.

Well my nightmare was that my ExH broke in to my house while I was sleeping and I called the cops on him.

Wtf, definitely a nightmare! Lol.

Add insult to injury I haven't even talked to my boyfriend really since Sat night when I left NYC because we've both been busy and he's touring and his shows finish after I'm in bed. So I'm dreaming of my ExH and haven't been talking to my boyfriend, grr!
