Someone told my kids that Hillary doesn't like children.
They got a fairly lengthy explanation on the 2058392085902 reasons that is bullshit. My son thinks that everything he is told (by his friends) is 100% true, trusting soul that he is, so that made it super fun to explain.
I had to stop talking about the election in front of her because my 6 year old woke up one night in hysterics about how if Donald Trump wins he's going to send away all of our black and brown friends.
I mean, I'm terrified that he actually will do something that racist and awful, but I can't have my kid sleepless and crying about it every night. So I didn't lie to her, I just said we have to do whatever we can to get Hillary Clinton elected.

My then-4 year old came home and said someone told him Hillary is a liar and he was really sad about it because we were so happy when she won the nomination. I about cut a preschooler and his parents.
On the way home, my DS asked if Hillary or trump would be going to jail if they lose. Because he saw a "Hillary for prison" thing on TV. Between that and him repeating what he heard trump saying about shooting someone and still getting votes, FUCK this election. I am over it. That I have to explain to my son that in the US, we don't jail our political opponents is just unacceptable. I can't imagine what other kids are being told.
Every time I see one of those dumb stickers, I wonder why someone has both a Hillary and a Trump sticker on their car until I get closer and see that it says "Hillary for Prison." Even their marketing people are too dumb to use a color that is visible.
There's a large "Clintons are Crooks" sign on my DD's school bus route. She asked about it and I explained it best I could (trying to sound fair and not trash someone's opinions). She said "well that's not nice! They shouldn't say things like that!" Ah, can't we all be 8 again?
There has been a rumor going around my kid's school for months that Donald Trump will ban oreo cookies if elected.
It has made Trump very unpopular among the elementary school set.
Truly, though, it's tricky because we talk about voting for Hillary and Trump being awful, but most of my family, including my parents, are voting for Trump. My son just asked me tonight why grandpa would vote for such a bad man. It's tough to find a way to explain.
My 5yo came home today asking if "Hillary was going to prison for all that she's done"? I got the name of source that asked him - a girl who sits across from him - and, coincidentally I'm going to a group dinner with her mom tomorrow night. Not sure if I should bring it up. I addressed it with him but he's also been told not to mention the election at school.
He said another girl said she supports Bernie to which DS responded, "He's out you dummy!" So we have work to do at our house too.
I think I've posted this before, but my almost 5yo DD asked me if Trump was going to set her on fire (because he fires people). She also asked if he was going to send her parents away (because he wants to deport people and break up families). She got all this from watching a single Tim Kaine speech. It's really sad.
DS told me he would vote for Hilary because Trump has bad hair. Completely logical.
My son woke up this morning with the worst bed head ever, and I said "come over here and let me brush that Donald Trump nonsense you've got going on" - which resulted in him crying because I called him a bad guy, and my daughter scolding me for making her brother cry.

I want this election OVER.
"He's out you dummy!" made me legit LOL. I had to say that to a grown adult about a week ago.
I'm glad DS isn't old enough to understand anything that's going on, but I very much appreciate laughing at some of the funny things your kids are saying. Mostly I'm sorry that there are so many freaked out kids out there though. Presidential elections should not incite fear in kindergartners.
I want to laugh at some of these gems...but at the same time my heart is breaking that the "grown ups" are putting so much fear into the lives of children ...the pp whose kid wants to paint their friends white... </3

A few weeks ago at the grocery store both my kids put their fingers in an X over a pic of Trump on a newspaper in the checkout line. The bagger laughed and high-five them, lol.
My reaction is a bit like SwimDeep's. I want to laugh at the comments but they also make me really sad.
One of the kids at the school where I work has started calling people Trump supporters as an insult. He told me he thought I was probably voting for Trump and as soon as I asked him why he changed his tune. He's just trying to provoke people, but it's a good way. The day of the last debate his summary was that he's worried about making sure Hillary wins.
Most of the kids are very nervous about this election and especially worried about what would happen if Trump got elected. I'm sure the daily viewing of CNN student news is a huge contributing factor.

My best friend's parents are Trump supporters, and her 5 year old son WENT OFF on her mom. He can't have a Grandma that likes Trump! Trump is a bad man and a bully! She tried to tell him that he's still young and hasn't lived enough to know things, and he said that he has too lived!
I love him. My best friend is mortified about her parents, but they are those people that watch Fox News all day. I wish I had seen her mom's face.
I've made it clear to DD that Trump is a bad guy and not nice and mean to people. I give no fucks.
DD (almost 4) says that "Donald Trump is a bad man and we're not voting for him! Right, mom?" but then she also started saying that Hillary was a witch yesterday ( ) so now I get to figure out which jerkface at school is sharing that agenda and strike them from our playdates.
She can identify each by sight, and is usually very pro-Hillary. We do try to be fair in saying that every person gets to make his or her own choice WRT who to vote for, but that no one in our house supports Dorito-face.
I'm fairly certain that none of the kids in the neighborhood are talking to me or to DD1 anymore because I schooled them one day and they probably told their parents, who in turn told them to not talk to the weirdo crazy liberal on the block. There are so many fucking Trump signs everywhere and it's driving me nuts.
One day last week, one of the girls got off the bus and was talking to me about how Trump would start a war if he won but if HRC wins she will take all of our guns because she is a lady crook and will destroy the country. I explained in simple terms that she was not a crook and that she is not allowed to just walk into people's houses and take their guns because that is not how the constitution works. I also explained that she would just advocate for things to keep kids like her safe in school, at the mall, in the movie theater, at the park, etc. She looked so confused. The next day, she wouldn't talk to me and neither would any of the other kids except for one (I'm friends with his mom). My daughter has been very cranky and upset lately, and I'm wondering if it is related to that. I feel bad, but I refuse to lie when it's brought up with me. I never once said any person who votes for Trump is a bad person or anything like that, just stated facts.
