No threats here that I'm aware of. But, this past weekend some teens tried playing a prank and were wandering around a neighborhood in a clown mask. They ended up turning themselves in (to the police and on FB) saying it was just a prank. They're lucky they didn't get themselves hurt, especially knowing there have been threatening clown incidents and people are on alert.

I feel like this is an urban legend/hoax repeating itself. When I was a kid in the 80's there were all kinds of stories about a clown in a white van trying to lure kids. We would scare each other and ourselves with the stories, but I don't think there was ever actually a clown. My H remembers similar stories, we are the same age and grew up about 30 minutes apart.
Add in social media and you've got more widespread "threats", but it seems to be mostly hoax and sick fucks feeding into it, like that IG post.
We got an email from our school district yesterday that there had been unsubstantiated clown threats, but they thought they were a hoax but they were adding extra security at the schools. I had no idea what they were talking about. What are the clowns threatening to do?
I saw something on the news about there being several clown sightings at a bunch of different high schools in the area. There was something in the story about what the police are doing about it. Doesn't sound like anything bad has happened though. Just pranksters, I guess? I find the whole thing very odd.
I live in a city with two school districts. The one that I don't work in was targeted, and it listed a series of schools in order of when "they would be hit."
The last line of the FB threat is something like "gunna blow shit up!"

I feel like this was remnants of John Wayne Gacy. His span was 72-78 in Illinois. He lured into his car, but could've been turned into a van in the stories.

That just upped the creep factor, I didn't even think about John Wayne Gacy. Now I have the creepy crawlies. Ugh.
From what I can tell, about 95% of them are a hoax. There was one kid that was arrested for being a clown. I'm not sure how that is going to stick, though, since it's not illegal to dress as a clown.
For some reason this is giving me the giggles. I instantly imagined a clown, dressed like a lawyer, in a court room saying it's perfectly legal to dress like a clown, your honor!"

You may have seen reports in the news and on social media regarding rumors of “creepy clowns" making threats against school districts nationwide. You can be sure we will investigate any and all incidents that are brought to our attention. If any of our campuses are impacted by a credible situation and not simply rumors, that campus will communicate directly with parents.
As always, the safety and security of our students is our top priority. While it has not been necessary to make any operational changes in xxx ISD schools as a result of these incidents, we want to assure you we are closely monitoring this concerning trend.
If you or your child observes any suspicious behavior, please report it immediately to your local police department, or to your campus administrators.
Whether they are made against an individual or an entire school, such threats are a serious matter. Several people nationally have been arrested in recent weeks for making false clown threats and they face serious consequences. Threatening schools is a criminal matter, and the police and our district take these situations very seriously.
Thank you for your continued support of xx ISD schools.
A local college was asking students to stay inside because of clown threats. There was a threat to a high school locally where it was said there would be attacks on Friday by clowns. Now the second one.. that could be kids spreading that rumor not sure but the college that was on the news.

In the next town over a guy dressed as a clown chased 4 kids (ages 6-11) after they got off a school bus with a baseball bat. I can't imagine those poor kids.
