When your major contributions to the craft of acting are being celebrated by the American Theatre Wing, you arrive like the royalty you are.
Iconic actress Cicely Tyson did just that as she gracefully stepped on the scene at last night's ceremony in a stunning silver jacquard gown by iconic Black designer, B Michael.
Tyson never ceases to amaze us with her unwavering beauty. No stranger to stunning style statements, the acting veteran is known to deliver vibrant, conversation-worthy looks. The intricate detailing of her gown and accessory choices show just how much of an OG she is when it comes to style.
She looks great. My great grandma is still kicking at 102, so I am planning for a long life. The men don't last as long though, so I am gonna have to look this good so I can get me a man. LOL
Get it, Miss Cicely! Further proof that Black women don't become more invisible as they age. We stay turning heads, as age is just a number!
Listen the man who sits next to me I voted me to his 20th anniversary lunch. He's divorced so you know he brought his momma (even though he dates lol).
Anyhow this man is 50 and looks 40. His momma is in her 70s and was sitting next to this 60 year old Caucasian woman just making that poor woman look haggard.
Momma was in a red dress and studded stilettos, skin looking smooth and tight. Yes please! You cannot outdo us!
I think I told this story before, but the black don't crack concept really stuck with me starting 3rd year of med school when I started seeing patients and knew their birthday.
I texted my mom about a week in telling her that I never realized how fabulous she looked for her age because I had multiple white women patients that week and walked in the room thinking they were in their 70s or 80s but they were really my mom's age of late 50s.
Also, my naturally oily skin can be annoying but I know it helps fend off the wrinkles. So give me all the natural oils and natural melanin!
My grandmother will be 99 next month and still wears heels, so I hope to be that fabulous then
