Question about DVC rentals

I figured out exactly what I wanted to do for a split stay and pulled the trigger on requesting an AKL studio Savannah view for August. I got an email saying the room is available but there is no one with the points. They offered to refund my money.

Is this normal and there's a good chance the deal will work out eventually?

Or does that basically it's not going to happen?

Is this with David's this happened to me once & then the points came through like 2 days later.

Yeah the 7 month out renters can't book that room yet. So if they don't have anyone specifically renting AKL points then they can't rent them to you. But at least you are in the queue? I would ask what they do have available for your dates & the cost.

Sorry, can you explain this a little more? I'm really confused about how this works. What do you mean by 7 month out renters? I know 7 months is significant but I don't know why.

You are fine waiting until they have an animal kingdom owner to book it whenever or waiting until 7 months when a non animal kingdom owner can book. As long as its not a value room, it won't book up. August is slower for dvc.

DVC owners have an 11 month priority booking window for their home resort.  For all other resorts they have a 7 month booking window.

Example- I own at Saratoga Springs at WDW.  I can book 11 months out at that resort but all other DVC resorts I can only book 7 months out.

You should be fine. While they don't have anyone now, when you hit 7 months out someone should have points available and there should be rooms available. AKL almost always has rooms at 7 months. And August isn't as busy for DVC, so it should be fine.

We were told that too. Ended up getting something at 6.5 months out. It wasn't our top choice but we are going during a busier time and needed a 2 bedroom. I think you should be fine with the room you want.

Any update? We just put in a request for Beach Club, right at 7 months out. The room is available, but they don't have the points. Our trip plans kept changing due to IVF and dumb crap, so I hope we can get the room we want!

Can you try a different rental company? After the 7 month window, I'd be really worried it would book up. I just wasn't able to get a Beach Club studio at the 7 month window with my own points.
