I don't know how to copy and paste, but Shep Smith was talking cray on Fox News (I mean crazy even for FN). "if this moves 20 miles west you and everyone you know are dead... Including your kids".

I'm still in shock that this is actually happening. We live outside of Hilton Head, but my H is stuck in Savannah. From what he's told me it's absolute mayhem for the folks that decided to stay.
My parents, brother, and 4 cats are in NC for now.

Jesus.
You need to google it. Just quoting it doesn't do it justice. WTF x100
Palm beach county checking in.. it hasn't been as bad as initially expected bc it bounced slightly north. But it's still south of us, so hoping for the best through the middle of the night.
And you know some kids heard that that would have pushed me over the edge as a child.
I was thinking the same thing. My third grade students are freaked out by a thunderstorm. Imagine a hurricane heading in your direction and you overhear some dude on the news all "you're all gonna diiiiie" Good Lord.

A bit north of you but all is good here. Kids and I both slept through the night.
I don't even know if it's even going to make landfall in Florida. Coastline is still getting hammered but hopefully damage won't be as bad as originally thought.
As for here (Orlando/Orange Co), wind is howling outside and lots of rain, but other than that we're good.
It bounced east. The eye is pretty safely offshore, so we're all looking to get off much easier than it looked last night. Of course it will be a few hours before it gets to us and it will be high tide. In a city where we sit on nothing but beach and rivers the flooding won't be great, but overall we're all getting lucky.
Update from our neighbor: power is out and yards look trashed but houses look okay
In central Brevard county. We evacuated to the west coast. I have no idea when we are going back as we have to wait for some more updates after the storm finishes passing

When I clicked on the link posted by a PP for Shep Smith's video it took me to an article about what he said (and I completely agree, I was an extremely anxious child and hearing that would have terrified me), but the video that played was of Megyn Kelley taking no bullshit, lol.
I'm curious what will happen if I embed the video here.
ETA: I tried, but couldn't get it to work. It's worth clicking the link to watch it. She's turning into one of my heroes and it was a few moments of humorous diversion from sad scary things.
