I'm on a posting spree here.
Last weekend was great for us. We have a NEW plumbing in the house now thanks to my dad. I love pex!
This weekend we are going to put up some halloween decorations outside. Saturday morning I want to go empty our storage unit and finally hook up the refrigerator water line. Then we are maybe going to a harry potter thing and grilling out with our duplex-mates for dinner. Sunday we are going apple picking!
Finish painting some trim in the nursery. Have baby Monday? I'm just hoping. It would be so nice to have the weekend to cook and hang out and then go into labor. I have no idea if it's a realistic hope or not since with #1 I was 16 days overdue and induced.
I'd really like to do a little bit in the garden too. I'm kind of scared though because I got some terrible poison ivy a little over a month ago and I don't know how I got it. I did some weeding, but didn't see any poison ivy. I wonder if it's on something - tools, gloves, water can?? I got PI off my trowel like 3 times one year before I figured it out and washed everything.
Play field hockey (almost every Saturday until April), check out our new bi-folding door, take tons of pics of stuff at the house, research new boilers for our current house (as its going downhill and we'll need to replace it before we rent it out).
So far this morning, we've pulled down all the hurricane shutters, started working on the huge broken branch on my tabebuia tree, gave the dogs a good run (they've been cooped up with us for 48 hours except for quick potty breaks), put loose fence boards back in and got our double gate closed (it's broken and will need repair). Need to run to Lowes to get asphalt glue for the loose shingles and twine to bundle up the branches for yard trash day. Not a fun weekend, but, we avoided major damage and power outages.
This morning we cleared as much of the debris that we can from the courtyard and front yard/driveway. Our street is all nice and clean now too...everyone was out there taking care of their section of it. Our mess was mostly a lot of small twiggy branches and leaves, and we still have a lot left out front, but we ran out of bags and all of our bins are full. We don't have much that is big enough to pile and bundle with twine. In all fairness, we always have things falling off the trees and the yard needed work before the hurricane, so we can't blame it all on Mathew. ;p
I guess the rest of the weekend (after we go out to get more yard waste bags and get a late lunch), will be spent putting all of the outdoor plants, furniture and whatever back where it belongs around the courtyard, and finding space for the stuff we had on the porch that needed to find a home, so that (in theory) it won't become a cluttered mess again.

My parents are in Winter Park and lost power around 6am yesterday- still don't have it back. But, no major damage on their street- a few fences down, minor debris. My sister is in Oviedo and didn't lose power, but, have some trees that will need to be cleaned up. We still have businesses out here without power and there are outages all around us. Tomorrow should be cooler, so we'll do the roof work then- IF we can find asphalt glue! DH was at Lowes at 9am (curfew ended at 7) and they were cleaned out of everything roofing related (and building related- dimensional lumber aisle was *empty*). Nobody in the county has roofing supplies, we're headed into Sanford or Altamonte later to get what we need.
Glad you guys weathered it well- hopefully it will be a long time before you meet another hurricane.
Glad you guys made it through without major damage.
I spent the morning helping my parents move stuff into their storage shed for winter and helping them with some yard projects. I was hoping to make it home before the rains started to get some of my own outside stuff done, but that didn't happen. So, I'm hoping to work on a few indoor projects the rest of the weekend as we're expected to get lots of rain.
I happen to have Monday off and am planning to take my dad to the airport and then get a new office chair, now that I'll be working at home on occasion. Evidently a major corporation near us is moving to another city so they are having a warehouse surplus sale and I'm hoping to find some things for my home office/nook there.
cmeon, I hope you can find the roofing supplies you need.
We should meet up sometime when you are in our neck of the woods.
Home Depot was so busy that we went in and got the bags and left right away and didn't even look to see if they were stocked or out of any supplies. We would have gone to the Lowes in Altamonte but they don't carry the bags we buy. I think we are going there tomorrow though. DH thinks that we should move on to the porch deck project now, while the deck is cleared off, so we are going to need some supplies.
We just finished the deck off the back door last Monday. I was hoping that he would be inspired by that deck to move on to the porch, but I think if it hadn't been for the hurricane and the porch getting cleared off, he would have put it off longer. We had just barely recovered from being sore and stiff from that job, when he had to get ready for the hurricane, so it kind of surprises me that he's ready to start on the porch deck. I think it is a bigger deck that will have different challenges.
