Most of you knew what I was dealing with in trying to get an employee fired. Well we were finally able to let her go in July, but weren't able to start somebody until the end of August. I trained that person for a week, then she was offered her old job back, and she took it. So I've been doing the job of 2.5 people since April and am now FINALLY fully staffed! I'm still busy with training and planning for an event that we're responsible for, but I feel like I can *kind of* breathe... just a little.
Because of all that, H and I weren't able to take a real vacation, so I am traveling with him to California at the end of this month for a work trip. I'll be working remotely while I'm there, but I'm excited to see the West coast!
Oh! And I started grad school. It's going to take me a while to re-adjust to having to do homework after work.

Hey, Sapph! SO glad to hear the work situation is finally getting resolved soon and things will be more manageable and less stressful for you. YAY for Cali-vacation! I hope you are able to enjoy as much as possible even with some working involved. Good luck with grad school, I'm sure you are going to do just fine!
Mostly same stuff as normal in my world. The H did get a new car at the end of August, so he's still excited about that. I've been picking up more work on the weekends with the side job, to prepare for holiday expenses & such. Then squeezing in fooball games and concerts as much as I can. The Prophets of Rage show was really fun this past weekend, and coming up in a few weeks I'm going to see Sia and Adele in the same week!
I also located the NoKidding group for Houston and they seem to plan some social events every month, so hoping to be more involved and meet more childfree folks in the local area. The Mean Girls screen party last night was with some ladies from that group and we had fun for that. They also have some brewery tours planned, a "haunted house" kind of thing out in a corn maze in a couple of weeks, and they do stuff like karoake and Top Golf meet ups. It's been nice to see some activity there, since I'm always looking for invites to things other than friend's kids' bday parties and baby showers, which is the only time I get to see my longtime friends these days.
Yay on grad school!!! How's it going with you and H doing it at the same time?
Honestly, that's the only way I could do it. He is so much more disciplined when it comes to homework. I just want to go home and sit on my ass, but he helps me stay on track. (And if I fall behind, he's there to catch me up!)
We have a midterm this week, so I'm not too thrilled.
OrangePixyStix, That's awesome that you found a local child-free group! I totally get planning your social interactions around friends' kids schedules. I don't know how parents handle it!
I missed the part where you got a side-job. What kind of work are you doing?

Hey!
I have had an insane summer/fall. We sold our house in 3 days at the end of June, and we had to hurry up and find a new place to live We did, and we moved at the beginning of September. It was CRAZYYYYYY but I absolutely love our new home. It is everything I was hoping for. I also went back to work. I think most of you know we adopted again last summer, and now that DD is 1, it is time to go back. It has been soso being back at work, but I am working on it!

Selling your house quickly is a good problem to have! Good thing you weren't working at the time.
I can imagine how difficult it would be going back to work after having so much time off. Hell, it's hard to go back after having only 2 days off! haha
Hi I finished grad school and made it through our kitchen renovation, so things have calmed down a lot for me. We've been travelling a lot on little weekend trips and going to concerts and festivals. Looking forward to Halloween as always!

I love your kitchen. I may have viewed the photos more than once because it is my dream kitchen...

Have I asked you what you're dressing as this year? You and Liz always have great ideas.
