And is there a better order to do them in to make it more magical? We will be at parks Sunday, 4/30- Friday 5/5. Right now I plan to do MK 2 days, each of the other parks 1 day and decide what park to go back to on the last day while we are there. I didn't get park hoppers.
So right now I'm thinking: Su - AK M - MK Tu - HS W - MK Th - EP F - TBD
I also have it sort of set up where we can see all the night shows with not super early morning reservations the next day.
The park hours aren't out yet either. Will that likely throw a wrench in my plans?
From what I've heard Monday's and saturdays are usually the worst days for MK. So you might go there on Sunday. I used touringplans and easywdw to get ideas and went from there.

I usually do AK on arrival day ( it's a half day park for us so it's a good thing to do then) Then Epcot on the first full day ( usually a Monday) Then MK on Tuesday or Weds I like to hop too.
We are going to start the vacation at MK and the other days we chose based off of the crowd level and tried to do all green days if possible. The day we chose for HS is a yellow day but it is the only day they are offering the Star Wars fireworks so we will make it work.
We also are going to end the vaca at MK which is a red day but we might go back and forth to hotel and we can stay up as late as we can to try to catch wishes.

We arrive on a Sun and leave on a Sat. We go to parks M-F.
I never do MK on a Monday. I look at the crowd calendars for each park/day and find the lowest crowd level for each park. 1 day at each and 2 days at MK. Then I book my ADR and hope to get the restaurants and parks to line up. Otherwise, I adjust the parks days to fit the ADR I can get.
ETA: The above usually results in this: M - Epcot T - MK W - HS Th - MK F - AK

I avoid extra magic hours since we rarely take advantage of them. We always start at MK and end at MK even if its a Saturday or a Monday because my girls "NEED to see the castle right away!" and right before we leave.
I use touring plans and their crowd calendar mostly. Then I also look at the hours/EMH/showtimes to make sure we see the night shows. You won't have to worry about the halloween or christmas parties at that time, though, which effects fall traveling.
I prefer my last night to be in Epcot or MK if possible - staying to see the fireworks. We are happy to start in any park usually.

We are just finishing up our first trip. Prior to the trip I obsessed SO much over crowd levels. After being here during what turned out to be an extremely high crowd week, I 100% think you should do whatever park works best for you each day, as long as you have a good touring plan. Even with high crowds we got to do everything we wanted to do, several times over, and never waited for anything longer than 20 min. Have fun!
We normally do MK, Epcot, AK, HS, and then we've been doing a split Epcot/MK finish day. This last trip we ended up doing MK, Epcot, and back to MK the last day, so next time we think we are going to do just a full day at MK instead of a split one.
I do try to avoid MK on the weekends, so I book the trip so we can start and end there without hitting weekends. Two MK days works perfectly because one day you can hit all the parades and shows you want and the next time you can skip them all and ride. We skipped wishes and the electrical light parade and literally walked on a bunch of rides. We were the only people on pirates and had our own boat. We almost had our own boat for jungle cruise.
We always start and end at MK....before kids we planned around magic hours because who DOESN'T want to ride splash mountain 3 times in a row at 2am?!?!
But now with kids, we AVOID extra magic hour parks bc we don't get to enjoy the extra magic hours (can't corral them that early or that late) and that just makes the parks extra busy those days. That's our only real strategy haha. ...and based on our dining res. of course.
