Can I do this? Endorse with both names? Bring in documentation? I don't have a hyphenated name & ive been married a long time. Heh. Am I out of luck with this check?
I've tried to do this before, and I needed to show some documentation that at one time I was named First_Maiden. Luckily, my SS card has both my (now) middle and maiden names on it along with my married name. That was enough for them.
I have been married six years and receive a stock check quarterly made out to firstname middlename maidenname and that is exactly how I endorse it. I have never had an issue. I bank with Chase and have deposited these checks either in person or on the app.
Eta - I deposit the checks to my account. I've never tried cashing them.
With my bank they have both my maiden name and my married name on my account. (But I've had the account long enough to originally have it in my maiden name, and then changed it over.)
I've never had a problem cashing any cheques in my maiden name.
Sign it and deposit it. My old job used to cut my expense checks in my maiden name. I would sign it with my maiden name and married last name. It always went through without issue.
I have been a customer at my bank so long that I did not have a problem recently! Small town life
When H and I got married we had a check made out to us with H's mom's maiden name (which she hadn't gone by in 30+ years). Because I'd used the same bank forever (and my parents too), it wasn't a problem.
All you have to do is write 'for deposit only' on be check and wait a day or two for the funds to clear based on the amount.
Don't overthink it.
"For deposit only" endorsements have to have the check name match a name on the account. Yeah? Otherwise, why wouldn't I be able to pick up a check made out to anyone, write "For deposit only" and deposit away?
Sorry, overthinking is basically my part time job. : /
And thanks, all, sounds like I'll try my normal mobile deposit and go from there!

They know me, because I work in the branch in a different department, but my bank just has you sign the name it is made out to first, then sign your correct name under it. I'm newly married but still haven't changed my name, so some of my checks end up under my married name and some under my legal (XH's) name.
I recently tried to deposit a check made out to my maiden name through mobile deposit and it was rejected since the name is not on my account. I'm going to bring in my marriage certificate to the branch and try again. I had signed it with by my married and maiden name.
The bank told us to do the folllowing: sign as written then aka name on account. So Kristine Maiden Name aka Kristine Married Name. This happens a lot with DH since he goes by his middle name, not his first.
"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion." - Unknown

My own mother recently wrote me a check with my maiden name on it; I have no idea what she was thinking. Either way, I just endorsed it with my maiden name, my married name, and then deposited it. No problem.
I had to do this once, when my sister wrote me a check and forgot I'd changed my name six months earlier. I just endorsed with both names, and brought my marriage certificate with me to the bank, just in case they gave me crap. They didn't ask for anything, though; I have a feeling they probably have it notated in my account information of what my previous last name was.
I have been married for 14 years and still get an occasional child support check for DD1 from the state - usually when the state has intercepted a tax refund. Always in my maiden name. I sign it and deposit it. Never had a problem.
Yeah, you should be fine. I've been married for a very long time and still get checks in my maiden name from a stock I own. I always just sign it with both last names. I.e. 'Betty Smith Jones'. Never had an issue.
