I normally don't buy in to the over-tipping that people think is necessary, but I plan on starting to use Peapod regularly. My first delivery is tomorrow... am I expected to tip the driver?
A quick google shows: "The Emily Post Institute and CNN Money note it's customary to tip about 10 percent of the bill for food delivery. " But I suspect that usually meant for Chinese/Pizza, etc. Same rules for grocery?
I feel like this is one of those things where a $5 bill would be appreciated. I don't know that you really need to tip as a percentage of what you spent. I've never done grocery delivery though, so I'm just speculating.

I always had them deliver while I was at work, so there was never an opportunity to tip. I don't think it's expected with peapod - it's a delivery service, like UPS.
They have a tip line on the form I sign, so I looked it up on their website. Their policy says "Tipping is optional. It is not expected but always appreciated."
I looked up an old email confirmation to see if I was losing my mind, and it did have a no tipping note, but that was for pick up, not delivery.

I always tip my Peapod driver. Roughly 5%, so usually $5-10 per delivery. I have always had really good drivers that bring everything in, ask where I want it, etc. so I'm happy to tip
