Is a queen bed a big deal to you? Pop has double beds. The mods have queens.
At this point, not really. The boys are 7 and 3, and we usually end up each with a kid, so there's a decent amount of room. Queens would be nice but it's not a dealbreaker. We did Pop on our first trip and it was fine.
So, I'm guessing the amenities aren't that much better at the mods? I feel like if we were going in the summer and could utilize the pools it would be a no brainer. I'm torn since we're going in the winter.
I was planning on staying at Pop. But I received a PIN code and could book at CBR or CSR for around $220 more for the entire stay.
We are going in Jan., so I'm not sure how much use we will get out of the pools. I'm worried about the shared bus situation at the mods.
Which would you prefer and why?
Do you mean shared buses at the values...? Because both CSR and CBR have dedicated buses, and do NOT share.
At CSR and CBR, you'd be getting bigger rooms with bigger beds and upgraded mattresses. I think the walls are thicker/better soundproofed as well, because the rooms are quieter. Even if you don't use the pools, CSR also has the advantage of a central location to three of the parks and a great view of the DHS fireworks at night.
It really comes down to what is important to you and whether that's worth the upgraded charge.
But aren't there multiple bus stops at mods within the same resort? I personally prefer one bus stop.
This.
If the bed situation doesn't bother you, I'd stay. The only reason I'd upgrade is because my kids love waterslides, but not worth $220 to me in this choice.

I would BUT I didn't like Pop Century. The bed was uncomfortable (and the little things, like towels and sheets, were low quality), and that's worth 220 for a whole stay IMO.
Thanks for all the thoughts! I think we will probably wind up staying at Pop. If we were going when it was warmer I would probably pick a mod with a nicer pool.

I had a similar question not too long ago. I was choosing between AoA and CBR. CBR was about $300. I went with CBR. The beds were a real deal breaker for me.
The pop themeing is so cute for the kids!! BUT The queen beds alone would be worth the extra money for me to switch. That being said, DH is a Disney snob and we did deluxe the last 2 trips... so I'm probably not the one to ask :-)

Yes, there are multiple stops. This is an advantage because the resorts are spread out so with multiple stops there will always be one fairly near your room. With one stop you might end up with a 15 minute walk to and from the bus. Not what I want to be doing late at night after a long day.
I have always wanted to stay at CSR so I would upgrade. I would actually look into Business Class & see his much more per a night that is. It puts you in the preferred location plus you get access to the business class lounge where they have continental breakfast, evening snacks & wine & beer. Also bottled waters you can take to the park. It might be worth that added cost for the $$$ you would save on food & water ( plus wine!)
I would upgrade. I have very little interest in value resorts due to the theming, room size/bed size, general feel, etc. $220 is totally worth it, I'd go for CBR I think.

This is a really good idea!!! It's not included in the PIN code I got though. Boo! That sounded great!
I read a review about CBR refurbishing all their rooms in 2015 and now I'm tempted to stay there! Too many decisions! I have to decide soon though bc our 60 day mark is coming up in a month (already booked our flights). And I need to book before then to get our FP!

@savestheday - BC at CSR is usually a $70-80 upgrade over standard. If you plan to have breakfast every day and drinks in the evening, then it's a good value. It's better than paying preferred or water view, IMO.
