How strict on occupancy?

Hey all..playing around...if our family, my brother's family and mom all head to disney that will be 13 people (8 children all 7 years and younger). How strict are they on occupancy? Like a grand villa sleeps 12...so...could we all share?? Or not because we have one more added person (even though more than 1/2 our party is small people?) Otherwise we would be getting SEVERAL rooms...like 4?? and i think that would end up costing even more than a grand villa??? Anyone know?

They're strict, but I believe they usually allow one kid under 3 to not count on occupancy.

100% strict. You don't get magic bands, room access, EMH access, etc for anyone over the limit.

But if you have a kid under 3, you should be fine.

I don't know if grand villas are easily booked through Disney direct though since they are DVC rooms. I'm not sure how often DVC releases those to be booked. They are super popular for DVC owners to book with their points.

I think 4 value rooms would probably still be cheaper per night then a grand villa depending on when you go.

We will have 3 under 3!!

We are looking at next christmas. It's on Grandma's bucket list to wake up Christmas morning at disney and be in the MK ON christmas day.....and she's paying so who i am to argue against the WORST CROWDS EVER. (seriously already having palpitations about navigating Christmas Disney crowds....but...i'm also not stupid enough to refuse a free Disney trip.)  We would probably try to rent through david's or something...but just weighing options.

To piggyback on this how many under 3 kids are allowed in a room?

Say we wanted to do ak savanah room person occupancy is 4 we have 2 adults 2 kids and 2 babies

Just an FYI regarding points needed to book a 3 bedroom villa over Xmas week in 2017 (Week of Dec 24-31).  

7 nights (2 weekend nights and 5 weeknights)
-1065-1287 at BLT
-1419 at GF
-615 at OKW
-933 at SSR
-950 at BWV
-850-918 at AK

Hopefully someone who owns at OKW will have a Feb use year and have points that you can rent at the 11 month window.

Don't panic too much on this. We went for Christmas and it was busy, but the energy was great, so festive. We did breakfast at crystal Palace on Christmas morning and had a great day. We ended up going to Epcot that afternoon and it wasn't that crowded.

Those point totals are insane!

OP, I would have a back up option of 3 regular hotel rooms because honestly finding someone with enough points is going to be basically impossible.

Thanks all. We are definitely open to regular rooms as well, and I'm glad to hear it might not be *as* insane as I'm imagining haha!
