I went to UWL for school for a year and a half 18 years ago but remember nothing. lol
We're driving through there tomorrow on the way to Minneapolis, and will probably hit it right around lunchtime. Any suggestions for good lunch places?

Are you going to drive up hwy 61 on the MN side to Minneapolis? It's going to be beautiful. We are heading down that way from Minneapolis for a day trip
(Lurker, but I went to school there for a couple years) I second Manny's. It's right off of 90 so it's convenient if you're coming in from that way. It is Mexican food, but it uses more seafood (although it still has the "typical" food too).
There's also a new burger/pub in downtown Lax that opened last year that I've heard great things about - The Old Crow, right on 3rd street at the corner of Pearl.

We haven't mapped out our route yet, but I'll see if we can include Hwy 61!
I'm hoping the leaves are somewhat still on the trees :-) We're in Central IL, and our leaves have been falling for a couple weeks now. More so within the last week.
Definitely take 61 to Minneapolis if you can, it's beautiful. The leaves have definitely started falling a lot more this week but there are still a ton of gorgeous trees.

Thank you for this suggestion. It's been a gorgeous drive so far!! We're in Lake Pepin right now.
This menu looks amazing but with my stupid stomach/gastritis finally getting better, I don't think I should be eating anything spicy
Bummer! Pickerman's Deli has really good sandwiches. It's nothing fancy but they are good! Or Big Al's pizza
Lurker chiming in. Big Al's, hands down. We were just there 2 weeks ago not knowing there was a def leopard/reo Speedwagon concert in La Crosse and waited an hour and a half for table, it's that good...
I'm not helpful at all except to say my high school won like a bunch of consecutive Jazz Band fest awards at UW-L. And I dropped the keyboard unloading it from the bus one year and it never worked again.

We drive down that way yesterday day trip to Wabasha. It's beautiful.
The colors in the cities are great right now. If you can, try to get to Minnehaha Falls.
