I gave up weight lifting for a while due to injury and then sheer laziness. I've begun again. I don't know why I stop as I feel more confident, I tend to lose weight (or at least keep my weight down if I lose it) and I just feel 'strong'. One added bonus that I discovered - my cramping during periods stops for a while when I do it.
Weight lifting is the best thing ever. I need to not stop ever.
Here's my goal (I don't want to compete, but I do want to still be lifting at that age):
I think it's great you're lifting weights. FYI: post-menopausal, women start losing bone mass if they don't have a weight-bearing workout. I had a bone mass scan done, and currently I have a 6% chance of a fracture in the next 10 years. So guess who is going to start doing lunges with hand weights on a regular basis? lol

I have taken weight training classes for years now. Not only do I feel better, but I really think that it helps keep the weight off. I do some cardio and yoga too, but it is the weight training that gives me the best results.
