H and I went to the shooting range this morning

I wish you had been around for the gun control threads we had after the Aurora shooting. Just like people tend to do the "spot the minority" threads for the RNC, I think you could pull a "spot the liberal gun owner" on this board.

I think it's just one of those things where liberals tend to be anti-gun... and I'll add that my perception of that has been mostly formed from this board (and its predecessor on The Nest).

I went to votesmart.org to see what the NRA has rated Obama and apparently they haven't given him a rating during his entire presidency. But they have managed to run ads against him based on....what, exactly?

This is why my brother (a pretty staunch R) wants my husband to run for office. H is a Texas born, Eagle Scout, A&M undergrad, UT Law, gun owning super-Liberal. Brother, who incidentally worked in the Buch White House, thinks it would be funny to watch the TX establishment get all confused.

I'm way left and I own a gun and have my concealed permit (really just to carry at my uncle's property in the woods where there is a cougar problem and I want to live ;D ) So everybody drink! :beer: :drink:

I'm uber liberal but still a big supporter of the 2nd amendment (and we have guns). I think it is intellectually dishonest to treat the 2nd amendment as if it is advisory, and my pure conjecture is that the president either feels the same or understands fighting this fight isn't a good use of resources. If someone proposed an amendment to overturn the 2nd I would support that, but a constitutional right is a constitutional right and until the constitution changes, the 2nd amendment is entitled to the same respect as the others.

ETA: DH or I would wear an Obama shir to the gun club. Hell, DH wears PETA shirts to the range. But we are in CA, so even at the gun club people are still pretty liberal.

I am a liberal, and I am not anti gun. I dont own one right now, but will do once I have the money and know where a good range is etc etc. I am pro gun, but anti ridiculously unnecessary five million bullets per second anti tank missile gun.

Come to NY. I think there would be a higher percentage of Democrats at the gun range than where you are.
