My kids LOVED AoA. My husband and I just found it too overwhelming and crazy (lobby and food area not the pools because it wan't crazy hot), but I think if we had started with AoA we wouldn't have been bothered by the craziness as much. Our last 4 trips have been deluxes so I'm sure part of it was that we are spoiled by that. I will say we had no issues with there being too much noise in our room (we were on the 2nd floor).
Thanks. We stayed at AoA 2 years ago in a LM room, so I know what to expect from the overall experience. I wasn't sure how much of a shocker it would be to move from a deluxe. I guess I was hoping for an alternative opinion from what I've heard in the past.
My dad and step mom are meeting us there (most likely), so we could split the cost of a 2 BR suite. I don't know if they want to stay as long as we do, so my plan was BLT at the start of the trip with them and then move to AoA suite for a few days after they leave.
I like nice hotels, but I've stayed at my share of cheap places too. H isn't really picky either. I'll have to think about it.
I think if we had gone to a family suite instead of a LM room, it would have helped as well because we definitely didn't sleep as well all being in the same room at AoA after being in separate rooms at BLT. AoA was so much fun for the kids thought that I'm glad we did it and its still the first value we'd pick if we ever stayed in a value again! I very much like that its one bus stop vs the multiple bus stops a lot of the moderates and other values have.
