MOOKs - Gift ideas?

I'd like to start price watching gifts for older boys and girls in anticipation of giving tree/Toys for Tots season. What are the kids into these days?

How old? I would say for 1-3rd graders, Pokemon anything is huge, Legos are great for boys, Shopkins for girls. I can also give book recs if you are looking for that. Board games, etc.

My kids are 8 and 5. Currently Pokémon cards are huge at their school. As is anything Pokémon related. My boys are also into Lego, Nerf guns, bows/arrows, and star wars.

And while this might be pricey for a giving tree gift, the boys joined their school robot club, and we purchased the robot that their team is using in the competition. The boys love playing with it both with their team, and at home, it's a great "big" gift for older kids. I'm betting someone will have a deal on it for the holidays.

Both kids are into Minecraft anything. And the 9 year old loves origami. Girls shopkins and my little pony. Stuffed animals. Anything that can be used as a sword. Mine love costumes. Science stuff.

Pokémon and minecraft. Scooters and skateboards are going to be big on our cul-de-sac. Shopkins construction sets will probably be big too.

Pokemon here too, also sports equipment gets used and worn out/replaced more than anything.
