Sorry for the repeat, Facebook friends. I just love this so much I have to spread it everywhere.
Last name removed for privacy reasons.
While I wait for movers to arrive from the old house, it's time for a story:
Valentina "Tina" Lastname was the only owner of this home (built in 1957) until her passing in 2015. She was a Professor of Psychology at the University of Colorado and a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Lastname means "feisty, defiant, and opinionated" - sounds like my kind of woman. She smoked Virginia Slims and had a gigantic portrait of The Lord's Supper in her living room. She was a lesbian in a time when being openly homosexual was frowned upon. She and her partner owned a Dairy Queen in Englewood, CO.
She was a fighter for animal rights and frequently donated to the shelter I worked at and many other local shelters. ❤️❤️❤️
On Dia de los Muertos I lit a candle in her home and had a little talk with Ms. Valentina. She passed away in this house and I can only hope that her spirit - the feisty, progressive, powerful woman she was - will inhabit this home for decades to come.
I adore so many things about this house, but the soul that prepared it for me and my future may be my most favorite thing. 💜🏡💜

It is great fun to know the history of your house. I have twice had people come to properties we own and tell about when they lived there in the 1920's and 40's. Both were cute old ladies. I enjoyed hearing their stories. I have one house I would love to have them explain what they were thinking when they renovated it back in the 1950's. Why, oh why did you do it that way?
Congrats on your new home and knowing it's neat history!
