The Native American claim is interesting. I believe tribal heritage can be complex. I keep typing thoughts but I don't want to offend.
Basically, I know many people who present and identify as black or white but have very strong ties to their NA tribes and ultimately identity as a member of their tribe. So I can maybe understand where her grandson is coming from. But the Lovings did interviews when they were alive, correct? If Mrs. Loving wanted to make the distinction, wouldn't she have done it herself?
It isn't showing anywhere near us. I'm pissed because I've been waiting for this for years. We have to drive at least 40 miles to see it.
Exactly. Only major cities looks like. What are you scared of America?
I was talking with DH about seeing this (he's very into movies so follows a lot of their release strategies, etc.) and he thinks they're doing a staged release...New York/LA first, then major cities, then opening wide. Not sure if that was just his theory or if he read it somewhere, I'll try to clarify. Save
This looks so beautifully shot! Just lovely. I cannot wait to see it.
Not too surprised about the limited city release though--it is a foreign film, right? My guess is that when it comes here, I'll have to make the trek over to the indie film theater.

I don't know enough about film to know what is considered a foreign film. The main actress and actor are not american. But the writer/director and production company are american. It looks like they're doing a UK premier early next year and it won awards at Cannes.
Hopefully there are more options for people to see it.

Thanks, I don't know either! But I would think the production company would be the most influential factor, so maybe it's not?
Yeah, so far the only thing on Fandango is for the Philly independent theatre, but the poster was up with "Coming Soon" at the big IMAX in King of Prussia... Save
I was going to go today but there is a black movie out called Moonlight that I heard was really good, and it's even more of a limited release, so I'm afraid it's not going to be around much longer. So I'm going to see that today. dr.girlfriend, it's playing at the Ritz if you are interested, so is Loving.

Just wanted to update...saw this last night and it was amazing...and not nearly as sad as I had expected. They did a good job of matching the tone of the movie to the characters...it was kind of quiet and steadfast and brave. I teared up at one point but was not sobbing like I expected, so if you are a wimp about sad stuff like me you might find that encouraging. kicks , DH loved Moonlight too!
Also...the theatre we saw it in (4 p.m. on Sunday) was about half full, and I just checked Rotten Tomatoes -- if you don't count movies showing in fewer than 5 theatres, it had the best per-theatre average this weekend, second only to Fantastic Beasts! :-) Moonlight is doing really well too, at 6.7 million gross. :-)

I'll ask! :-)
insominac DH said, "Did I cry?" (thinking) "No, I didn't cry. It was really good though. I cried at Loving. Did I cry at Moana? No, that one just gave me lots of feels."Save
