So my baby girl has been measuring ahead at each ultrasound, and continues to do so. At my 31w one, she is measuring 35w and already weighs 5.5#. My DH was a huge baby (12#10oz) and I was 8#7oz, so not super surprising that we make big babies (we are both tall too). I dont have GD.
Did they induce you early due to size/weight? They already won't let me go past 39w due to another issue.
Any stories for me or am I just going to end up with a 10+ pounder?
My first measured ahead the whole time. My H and I are tall, and I was a big baby, too. No GD. He was born at 40+2 at 10lb, 3 oz. It took 2.5 hrs of pushing, but he finally arrived. (My epidural was fantastic, so I was just tired.) He went to special care nursery briefly because he had some breathing and/or heart rate issues (common in big babies), but he was out in about 12 hours with no other concerns.
There are lots of stories of babies who measured big & came out average. I just tried to put myself in the mindset that I needed to trust that my body knew what it was doing & not panic about size. I don't think they recommend changing birth plans based on predicted size anymore, but your OB will be able to advise you better, obviously.

Ds1 measured ahead the whole time and was 11 lbs 6 oz when he was born at 41w4d.
I was trying for a VBAC, so they wouldn't induce. If I hadn't, they would have recommended inducing early. I ended up with another c section, but it was unrelated to his size.

DD measured average the whole pregnancy and was an average 7.7 when she was born at 41w5d. The only reason I'm posting is because DH and I are both tall people and were big babies (he was 8.14, I was 9.6), so that alone is no guarantee that you'll have a big baby regardless of what the machines are estimating.
My SIL is the only person I know IRL who was induced for weight concerns two days before her due date. Her DD came out an average 8 lbs even though they were estimating close to 10 lbs.
My kiddo did. I can't remember all the specifics but I think all the estimates were 3-4 weeks ahead in the 3rd tri (I had serial growth ultrasounds due to my blood pressure). He measured I think 5 days ahead at the NT scan (but I was sure of my dates; LMP and OPKs aligned too).
He was 7lb1oz when he was born at 38w2d, so perfectly average! The ultrasounds are really imprecise. I was very nervous about it though, and my doctor pointed me to some research showing that (in the absence of GD) it's actually more dangerous when providers/parents think the baby is big than when the baby is big due to the increased interventions. That said, my doc did have an extra nurse on hand at the birth in case of shoulder dystocia (which he didn't experience, fortunately). I think the official number for concern is if the baby is estimated to be >10lbs, which is pretty rare.
My boys both measured large, and I measured ahead both times due to excess fluid. I was induced both pregnancies because my body is simply incapable of going in to labor on its own; my OBs were never worried about the size of my boys even knowing DH and I are both tall and were relatively big babies. Both boys were 9.5 lbs (41 weeks and 40w 3d) and I had no issues with delivery.
If you are already going to be induced at 39w, I wouldn't worry about it.
DD2 was measuring ahead the entire time. I did not get induced. She was born at 40w1d and weighed 9lb 5oz and was 21.5 inches long. They estimated her to be over 10 pounds at my last ultrasound, but she was obviously smaller when she was born.
They will not induce solely for suspected macrosomia before 39w. T had suspected macrosomia -- I had well over 10 scans where he measured above the 97th percentile for not only weight but each head size, femur length, shoulder, abdomen, etc. I believe he measured 7.5 lbs at 32w. He was born at 39w at officially 8#8 but was super fluid overloaded and more like 8# even. He was not LGA. Let me know if they discuss induction vs c section for you and you have questions.
Anecdote: my friend who was due about a month after me was monitored for months because of her "huge" baby. They made her get weekly ultrasounds, non-stress tests, etc. She was so scared that she'd have a long recovery from birth. She went into labor at 39 weeks and had a 7 lb. 8 oz. baby, exact same size as DD who never once was questioned for size.
I agree, if you're going to be induced at 39 weeks anyway, don't worry about it. Those measurements can be wildly inaccurate.

Thanks. Yes all of her measurements are 4 weeks ahead as well. I get growth ultrasounds every 4 weeks due to my other issue (kidney disease).
I really like my OB but she has been getting on my nerves lately due to the baby's big size. She told me last apt to continue watching my sugar (I am not diabetic) and then to start watching my white carbs. My weight gain has been normal so far and I don't have GD, so I don't get it. She keeps making it seem like SUCH a big deal that baby is measuring big, I wanted to get other opinions on it. (OB has never discussed anything "bad" related to size just seems concerned).
