Lawd...I have passed my pettiness on to my 8 year old. She loves to look at Pete Souza's IG pics and as we're scrolling today, she asked if President Obama will still have secret service agents when he's no longer President. I told her that he would, and she said (in the most sarcastic tone ever)"well since Donald Trumps America is going to be so great, maybe he shouldn't get any secret service protection!" I had to bite my tongue not to agree with her.

Here is how I'm feeling... I know everyone is experiencing the aftermath of the election in their own way. However, now when I go places I'm wondering if people are thinking I should go back to "my home country." I'm looking at all random white people differently. I feel nervous, scared for myself and other minority groups. I don't want to think about it every time I leave my house. Logically I know these people felt this way from the get go, but now I've allowed them into the forefront of my daily thoughts. I don't know what I'm looking for maybe people who can relate. I don't know.

I was just in the cafeteria and this black lady was wearing the most fabulous camouflage outfit. I can't describe it but it was fly. She is a veteran.

This white man literally had his head turn staring at her for a good 20 seconds. I don't know what he was thinking but he didn't say thank you for your service or you look nice like another person had done. He just stared at her, wtf? Like a black woman can't be a military veteran.

So I gave him the death stare and made sure he saw me and then went and told her she looked fabulous. If I weren't at work I would've asked him what the fuck he was looking at. Rage.

I will say that DH's mother was a one-issue voter. She was pro-life, and that was all she cared about. They think they are saving innocent little baby lives, and don't take into account all the lives lost through queer kids killing themselves and institutional racism, etc., etc. Of course, she also had two abortions when she was young and wild and planned to give DH up for adoption when she had him (and instead just plunked him in foster care for most of his formative years), so don't even get me started on that...

Tuesday's exit poll results have not yet been finalized but so far they show Trump outmatching Romney by two points in each voting bloc.

Trump claimed 29 percent of the Hispanic vote on Tuesday compared to Romney's 27 percent in 2012. With blacks, exit polls show Trump claimed 8 percent of the vote to the previous Republican nominee's 6 percent.

First there was voter suppression like a Mofo. Second turnout was low. Third the Clintons have a ton of baggage. Including the Three Strikes law and Welfare reform. I know you were not trying to do this but minorities are not what made her lose the election. She had a terrible campaign, didn't excite the base, and was polarizing.  You think people would have learned from Gore another boring candidate.

I'm not trying to blame the loss on minorities, I'm just trying to help the pp understand how someone they know and like could vote for this man.  If 29% of Hispanic voters voted for Trump despite his openly racist rhetoric, there must have been some other issue of his that resonated with them.

Most likely because he singled out Mexicans and people who do not legally immigrate. My Brasilian Stepmom is totally against anything that makes it easier for others from Latin Countries to immigrate because she had such a difficult time therefore everyone else must or some shit. However she also told me there is no racism in Brasil, so that shows you how logical she is

I think that would be particularly wonderful for your kids. Assuming you could get decent jobs that sounds like a viable plan.

I thought I didn't want to live overseas for a long period of time again, but I've been reconsidering it more and more lately. I can't shake the feeling of feeling at home in certain black countries. It's such a wonderful feeling.

Oh yes, I know the brazilian economy isn't great. I guess it's different with kids and you need to be more secure financially. But I personally would be ok with somewhere in which the economy (assuming I had a job) isn't as great as it is in the U.S. if I felt more emotionally secure. I know the answer isn't to run away, but a little break from the bullshit would be nice! There are very few countries that are perfect, but I think being surrounded by your people is something you can't put dollars on.

I had a serious conversation with H about moving there for awhile.  Its not a brand new conversation, we've talked about it before.  He could work at any hospital with a translator, and I could do the same.  The boys could be immersed in the language and I could become totally fluent again.

Its pretty damn sad that I think my blond blue eyed white husband will feel safer there than I feel here right now.

We wouldn't have the built in family support system ( majority of my family is here or in Palestine) that you have. That's a huge plus. Especially when raising kids.  Family, job, housing. Sounds like it could be a feasible plan?
