..for the Muslim registry.
I just...the news gets more dystopian every day, and this buffoon isn't even in office yet. Who looks at our shameful history of internment and thinks, "Hey, that's a good idea!" Seriously, what. the. fuck.
A former Navy SEAL and supporter of President-elect Donald Trump cited World War II internment camps as a precedent for Trump's proposed Muslim registry during an interview Wednesday night on Fox News.
Speaking to host Megyn Kelly, Carl Higbie, a spokesman for the pro-Trump Great America PAC, argued that a proposed registry would be legal. "I know the ACLU is going to challenge it, but I think it will pass. We've done it with Iran back a while ago. We did it during World War II with Japanese. Call it what you will, maybe wrong," Higbie said.
I don't want to bury my head in the sand, but yesterday I was at the gym so turned on the tv for the first time to watch the news. I had to turn it off. Every day it seems to get worse.
This is what happens when we do not study or know our history. And when one state gets to write the text books. Certain things get white washed and don't appear as bad as they were at the time.

Exactly. I've been saying this mess for I don't know how long. Did you not see that this is the same rhetoric of WWII? If you don't learn from history, you're doomed to repeat it.

What really worries me about it is that he and his supporters are pointing to WWII Japanese internment camps as precedent. They're not completely unaware of their history. They just don't give a fuck.
meshaliuknits I think they know about it, but don't really know. I mean the amount that these subjects are covered in school is pretty pitiful. And the whitewashing to make it all sound like it wasn't as bad as it was. And then they have a distorted view of what is OK in the name of safety. So yeah, I guess if they do know they just don't give a fuck. It is really depressing. It reminds me of that study of having to increase the amount of pain when electrocuting someone and how many people went to the max amount despite a person screaming in pain because they were "supposed" to. No empathy for others. Sociopaths.
