I was thinking about the fake news sites, and I know those students created an extension for fake news but I'm not sure how many people use extensions. I mean I'm pretty tech savvy and I rarely use them.
So I was thinking of an easy way to have something universal. The only example I know of is something is the "s" for secure websites. Pretty much everyone knows by now to look for https before making a purchase. What if we did httpn for authentic news sites?
I'm running out the door but wanted to get this down somewhere before the thought got away from me.
A friend of mine created a Chrome extension this week that uses this list to identify questionable news sites. (Here's her extension.) I like it but I'm assuming most of the people who "need" this the most wouldn't use. I don't know what the criteria would need to be for a site to qualify for the "n" and how that could be objectively monitored but I love the idea in theory!
