Summary: An almost all-white HS had students yelling "build the wall" at the opposing team at a volleyball tournament, a school near the Mexican border that is 97% Hispanic. The superintendent of the white HS said this:
“In my opinion it is stemming from the presidential election,” Knoblock told the paper. “If we hadn’t had that election last week, this wouldn’t have happened. Our students are not racists. It’s as simple as that.”
Also, apparently no adults or officials did anything to stop the chants during the match.
ETA: The article was unclear on what, if anything, would be done. The school is Archer City High if you want to contact them or live in the area.

What do these people justifying these occurrences think racism is? I mean... People seem to have the idea it's only racism when you're shouting racist things at someone of another race with the intent to hurt them... And yet, even that is not racism now?
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

So, rather than take the opportunity to teach a bunch of potential Drumpf-supporting troglodytes how to not be racist, the principal doubled down on defending the behavior, which probably actually reinforced it. Awesome. It actually sounds a lot like "It wasn't me that shot him, it was the gun!"

Jesusfuckingchrist.
My students would eat those kids alive; they are smarter both by book and by street, and my students will be the ones to make the laws to punish those who treat them and other POC like sub humans. My students are our future presidents, senators, doctors, etc; get used to it or they'll build a wall around you.

Seriously. We clearly no longer agree on even the basic definition of racism.

This country has *never* agreed on that.
Fair point. How about the minimum grounds for racism? I don't even want to type out examples, but right now I'm afraid that many of our spineless leaders wouldn't object to David Duke writing policy.

There have always been people who explain/excuse even blatantly racist things. Look at how many jerkoff kids still think it's ok to use a mud mask as blackface and proudly post it on Instagram, and then their Mommy goes to the papers saying no harm was intended. Or that youknowwhat-in-heels comment recently from an elected official trying to say that it somehow wasn't meant to be racist.
