We are now 2/3 of the way through November, which doesn't seem right. How is everybody doing coming out of weekend #3?
I'm assuming most posters are American. I am not, so I don't have to worry about the holidays, but I wish you all good luck. What do you expect to do during Thanksgiving... writing before, catching up after, or locking yourself up to write those days?
I have been following incogneato 's blog. Does anybody have anything else (pinterest, blog, author site) they want to share?
And finally... is anybody actually on track to finish their story by the end of the month? Despite my word count being where it is supposed to I am not. Oops.
I just eked past 30K words today, so I'm still behind. I plan to do 4K words each day tomorrow and Tuesday, basically working on Nano all morning both days. Then I'll be caught up and can go easier through the holiday weekend. My H will be home, but he's also doing Nano so we'll take turns writing and watching the kids.

I'm over 30k, so still behind but very doable. I have plenty of plot left, plus I went to a concert last night and decided I want to make one of the guys into a character. Lol
Great job, everyone! I didn't write at all over the weekend, and don't think I'll even bring my laptop with me to my parent's house for Thanksgiving. I'm around 18k, and think this story will die there. I'm definitely still in a funk post-election and my writing didn't help me escape it at all. So far the only thing that's helped is Christmas music and decorating and making cookies.

A couple NaNoing together sounds awesome and complicated Gato. My DH was supposed to do NaNo and win as a part of a bargain we had but it never happened. He has a story idea but seemed to think procrastinating worked as well with a novel as other things. Not so much!
fatamy if you need a place to send cookies... lol.
I'm sorry everybody is struggling this November, but it is good to know I'm not alone this year. 30k must have been a popular place to be because my sister told me she was at the same point yesterday morning.I'm probably 2 chapters away from some action scenes. If they flow it will be a good way to get out words but I'm not going to hold my breath this year. My outline says I have 8 chapters left for my part of this novel. I can't see that happening by the end of the month so I guess I'm going to be a December writer this year.

That is when I will need tips for balancing holiday madness with writing.
This year has been tough for me. On Sunday, I wrote about 5000 words and got myself back to up par for that day (so I'm at a little over 33,333 right now), but didn't write anything yesterday. I'm just...really not feeling this story, but at the same time, I just want to cross the finish line and never think about it again.
Ugh, I did nothing yesterday. It is always so hard for me to get through these last ten days. I just want to relax over Thanksgiving!
H writes his novel by hand, and doesn't go on the official Nano site at all. So he's not too fanatical about it, and the fact that he keeps plugging away until he hits 50K, even if that's in December, shames me into not giving up.

I like this attitude about reading providing fuel for learning how to craft a story. I have been reading more mysteries lately since this is my first attempt at writing a mystery, so I will use that as a good reason rather than procrastination.
I've now accepted that I'm going to have to continue this after November ends. So, as I stated on my blog, I need to publicly say that I will finish in December. Peer pressure has proved very effective for me in the past.
