"As military families sat on gold ballroom chairs in the White House’s East Room, the first lady talked about how proud she was to “open this house to as many people from as many backgrounds as possible.” She mentioned that inviting military families to be first to see the decorations was one of her favorite holiday traditions. She began thanking the ushers, florists, carpenters, chefs and calligraphers that make all the magic happen. Then her voice cracked. “So before I get choked up,” she said. “Let me officially kick off our final White House holiday season.”
Photos at the link. Man, I am going to miss this family so much
The majority of the holiday decor was designed by Rafanelli Events and executed by 92 volunteers from across the country.
How awesome would it be to be one of the volunteers to decorate for the Obama's White House Christmas? How do you get that gig? Asking for future reference when we eventually have another amazing family living there, not an opulent dumpster fire.

I remember from some HGTV special that it's a simpleish application on the White House website way early in the year. You are responsible for your own food/lodging/transportation. I definitely want to do it sometime. It would be pretty cool. Sent from my SCH-I545 using proboards
I have to make sure I get my WH ornament this year. I sure won't be getting one the next 4 years.
Think of all the things that the WH does now that will just be weird with #45. Or he just won't do them. Or his kids will be in charge of it. Easter Egg roll, trick or treating, Christmas tree lighting. Ugh.
