We are decorating/setting up the barracks for the "single" soldiers and the spouses asked us to split this into two separate time shifts-- morning and afternoon.
Well, we wanted to do it all in one shot but since people wanted to participate we decided to accommodate. I was left in charge of the second shift. I get to the company building and wait for what's supposed to be 5-6 people and absolutely none of them showed up. They didn't even CALL/TEXT/EMAIL to let us know. I literally had to call them myself to find out they weren't coming.
Needless to say, I did all of it by myself. I really wish people had the courtesy to let us know when they can't make an event that THEY signed up for. I know that everyone is scrambling because homecoming is so soon but no one forced you to sign up. If you weren't able to do it, don't sign up! If something changes, let us know! Everything could've been done in the morning shift. Ugh. I'm annoyed. It's so inconsiderate.
I almost lost it. I was so embarrassed (felt my eyes get watery) because I had two Sergeants waiting to escort me to the barracks and I asked them to wait an extra 15 minutes only to have no one show up. They can't give me a heads up that they're flaking but they can certainly harass us with 1293824 questions at all hours of the day lol.

That is unacceptable. I would be furious. I get that it's a volunteer thing, but have the decency to call if something comes up, or call if you "just don't want to".
The worst part is that they complained that they needed two different shifts so everyone could do it. And they never did.
HAHA! Exactly! One spouse actually told me she was two minutes away.... didn't show up.
I really don't get why she would even say she's two damn minutes away
Whatever. We sent out an eblast and then the apologetic emails came rolling in. It didn't take me super long to do everything either because the first shift did the first two floors.
