Do you give your regular mail deliverer or UPS driver gifts? What about other professional contacts?
Our mail lady is great so I want to get her something but I'm not sure what or how. Do I wait by the window all day to hand it to her, or do I stick it to the mailbox with her name and trust a substitute to not take it? Do I do cash or a gift card?
We've never met our mail deliverer or UPS driver, so I definitely wouldn't think to get them anything. Do you ever talk to your mail lady? If I were going to get them something, I would probably want to deliver it in person so that I was sure it got to them.
I have in the past but this year I probably won't because we have had 8-10 different carriers in the past 2-3 months. It's been weird, I've had to complain to the post office because of misdelivered mail and such.
I do talk to the mail lady a few times per week. She also carries our packages into my house to be extra helpful.
The problem is that she delivers anywhere from 2-4:30 so I'd have to be staring outside the whole window. I guess if ibget it now I can just wait until we criss oaths naturally.
My mailbox is at the bottom of the hill, so I leave my mail lady's gift in my mailbox; I prop the card up & label big in red (festive;)) Sharpie USPS. Last year I did $25 Starbucks gift cards for post lady & UPS driver & $10 GC for FedEx (doesn't come nearly as often). I'm Amazon Prime & live on top of a hill that they often have to walk during snowy season, so I try to show a little love. I'm thinking of Visa GC's this year, but haven't done it yet.
YES! My mom delivered mail for 20+ years and the carriers definitely appreciate tips you leave for them. You can leave cash (people always say they can't accept it but they can - it makes up the majority of their tips!) in an envelope for them - if a sub is on that day, they will give it to the regular carrier (regular carriers typically give a portion to their subs so they shouldn't pocket it unless they are a total jerk)
It's especially nice to do if you get a lot of packages, schedule pickups, etc ( unless they screw it up, I have had some bad carriers in the past so I get it that some of them suck, unfortunately)
I also give a tip to UPS since I typically get a decent amount of packages.
I think last year I gave $40 to USPS (I get a lot of packages and also did some pick ups) and $10 to UPS. I'm not sure what I'm doing yet this year since I haven't left my tips yet. I think for a typical customer, $25 for USPS is a nice gift.
amaranth I did a cutesy little gift bag for L's 4 main daycare teacher/contacts....SO not anything MMM would approve. I simply didn't have a ton of funds allocated for it.
I need to encourage J to do something for our mail carriers. Our UPS guy gives the dogs treats.
