Hi guys, I've rarely posted on here in the past but I might be more regular since we're about to embark on a whole house/yard remodel.
Our house is 3246 Sq ft and 4 bedroom/4 bath and it's very weird in many ways and I've had a tumultuous relationship with it the 4+ yrs we've lived there but I'm finally ready to commit and take the plunge.
We have a pool outside the back door and then the yard slopes to a small flat area. The plan is to build a retaining wall outside the perimeter of the pool area and level out the sloped area and make the landscaping clean and modern.
The kitchen is small and while it's "feature rich" (6 burner dual fuel range, warming drawer, built in 36 in fridge/freezer, appliance garage) it's dark and dated and poorly laid out and storage is sorely lacking.
The plan is to open it up and put in a large eat in island and induction cook top in the island and new cabinets and counters and new appliances: looking at a speed oven plus a wall oven, refrigerator only column (will keep a freezer in laundry room) , new DW (Bosch vs Miele) and maybe a Sharp microwave drawer. We have a built in ice maker in the laundry room we'd like to move into the kitchen as well.
The floors are slate in the kitchen, sun room (will be new DR), guest bath and laundry and I HATE it. Never looks clean, textured so every but of food catches in it. Trying to think of floor options now.
Cosmetic updates to laundry room. Guest bath will get new tub/shower and vanity/sink.
Wood floors are bamboo and are warped from our housekeeper using steam on it so we're thinking of our options for flooring that's durable for 3 kids. Something on the lighter side probably.
New windows and doors throughout the house. New baseboards (taller and flat) and trim.
We've been spending time on Houzz looking at inspiration pics and I've been on the Houzz/Garden Web forums doing a lot of reading. I'd love to know of other resources to look at, especially kitchen appliances reviews. And will thank y'all in advance for any advice.
