Morgans Hotel NYC?

I am planning a birthday trip to NYC for DH's birthday and Morgans seems like great choice based on the reviews and price.

Does anyone have any experience with the hotel and/or advice on the location and places we might check out nearby? I am trying to get an idea of what we may be able to walk to vs. catch a cab or train...

The location is good -- you would be able to walk to the Empire State Building, Grand Central, Chrysler Building, New York Public Library and Bryant Park, and Times Square from there. Farther, but definitely walkable (particularly as an extension of a walk to one of the other listed locations), would be the Fifth Avenue stores, Rockefeller Center, MoMA and Central Park. And you wouldn't be far from the 34th Street trains that go anywhere.
