I have only heard about the Elf from white people. Do you know POC who do the cutsy Elf things everyday? There is one at DD'S daycare but she's too young to get it. I can't see myself doing any of the crap people do with the Elf so she'll only get one if she asks.
No but my daughter is only 10 months old. I do have one though. I actually had it even before we had a baby. The stupid thing looks just like me and I had to buy it lol.
@barcelonagal I first heard about it here but in the last couple of year, all of my coworkers with little kids got them. I don't know when it became a thing.
I wonder if I'll stop being a grinch about christmas if/when I have kids. No decorations, no presents, no celebrating. Lol. So no, I wouldn't have that creepy elf in my house.
We do it, but with the plushie Elf because the regular one is creepy as fuck. Ours just moves around and occasionally brings them small presents. We don't do anything elaborate- it's like an egg hunt every morning.

Yes. I started with my son who had a white elf named Jack. They have black ones now. So now we have a black female elf Jill that I mostly got for my daughter. Then i lost Jack. So now we just have Jill.
Now they also have outfits lol. I have not yet gone that far, but I may one day lol!

What kind of things do you have Jill do? If the damn elves didn't need props I maybe could consider it.

No elf here and I've struggled with santa. We went along with it with the oldest but I really just don't want to do it at all. I find it creepy and the elf even more so. We do an advent calendar and I tried to do Saint Nickholas, but I grew up in Germany and that's a tradition my German aunt started with me and so want to continue. I found a truck related advent one so that's been fun and something I've wanted to pass on. Saint Nick was a fail and I'll re consider next year.

I'm excited to do Santa but I haven't said much about him this year. I guess I better start talking him up.

The elf comes out after we put up the Christmas tree. The kids usually leave out their Christmas list. So the first day he is usually tangled in the lights on the tree. And the lists disappear because he he supposedly took them to the North Pole. Then I just move it around. Nothing elaborate. One day the kids found it looking at my son's kindle. The next she was sitting on one of the train cars around the Christmas tree. Last night I put her in the bathroom holding some toothpaste. Not a good idea in hindsight because my son didn't want to pee in front of Jill.
I also used to consume pumpkin spice lattes like it was my job and then I realized that I would need another job to pay for my coffee habit. So I stopped.

Yep. We have a brown elf named Charlie. Sometimes he's silly, other times he just moves place to place. We don't use him for behavior modification (snitching to Santa or spying). We just do fun stuff with him. And by "we" I mean me. Lol my husband is a Grinch.
