Do you do Elf on the Shelf?

We don't do it. I have friends that do but I don't know if they are my white friends or POC. I'll have to pay attention when they pop up on my feed. I scroll right on past and never pay attention to those posts.

Everyone here makes it sound like a lot less work than the rest of the internet. Maybe there's hope for DD to get one. Only if she asks though because I'm still lazy as hell and I'm not volunteering for extra mom duties.

We have a brown elf that my SIL gave us, but it's just for decoration. She hasn't asked to do the whole shebang, and I sure as all hell am not offering.

Nah. I think it's creepy, too much work, and I hated the big Santa Clause lie as a kid so we've been pretty half-assed about Christmas magic at our house, lol. I had a pumpkin spice latte once and hated it. DS's birthday is on 12/1, so it's actually perfect -- for the past few years he gets the Star Wars LEGO Advent calendar for his birthday and then it's the countdown to Christmas. Although we also go by day rather than countdown, starting with 1 -- never occurred to me to do it the other way!

Girl no. We would not have an elf it was white. Our tree topper angel is black and I saw some beautiful black angels in the store at my job and I want them all. I think I'm starting a black angel collection.

my mom collects black angels and black nativity pieces. I'd do the same if I had any shred of religion.

Yes, we have a brown elf. It doesn't spy, it's there for fun. It moves some days and others well it forgets to move....you know I'm a good mom but I'll never be the mom blogging or pinteresting my amazing creations. Thankfully, I'm finally okay with realizing that.

I'm kind of glad to see this. Both MH and I are meh on the whole Santa thing. We have time but I'm sure some are side eyeing us because we didn't take her to see him this year. I'm not sure what we will do but I have a feeling it won't be a big deal for us.

I don't but I'm not sure it has anything to do with me being black...I'm just sick of cleaning up after people and pets so I'll be God damned if I'm going to set up elaborate messes made by a stuffed elf that I have to then clean up as well. Fuck that.

I just learned that little BIL has an elf. SMIL is white and FIL is black. I've never noticed the elf in the last few years. SMIL said this would be the last year since BIL is 12. They had a brown elf sitting on the tree like an ornament. I didn't ask if the elf has done anything special but I can't imagine FIL allowing more than simple movement around the house. So I do know POC personally who do Elf on the shelf. They just don't talk about it. Lol.
