Okay, hyperventilating a little here. Instead of hauling all our Christmas gifts on the plane (and risk them losing the luggage), I mailed them via USPS. Both packages were sent at the same time and left the local post office at the same time. One was checked in at the sorting facility, the other wasn't. Both say "in transit to destination." One package had ALL my daughters gifts, the other had my handmade quilts for family. Please someone, anyone, tell me something similar happened to you and everything was delivered on time. ::breathesintopaperbag::
The trackers haven't been working on a few of my packages lately. One said it was in PA for a few days then suddenly it was on my porch. Second said it hadn't even shipped yet to the facility and arrived.
Try not to stress. Their tracking is the worst out of all of the carriers. Did you pay for them to be delivered by a specific date? I will say that while the on-line tracking system is awful, I've still had very good luck (knocks on wood) with getting my packages delivered on time. The one and only time I did have a problem, it was with the recipient's local post office (they misplaced a package). However, that is a very uncommon mistake.
Another their tracking is awful. I've had things say they were still in transit on the website - the items were delivered several days prior per the recipient. Same thing with things shipped to me.
I've ordered a few things lately (not by USPS though) and some of them go from one end of Canada to my doorstep without ever being updated. (UPS) or another one was updated everywhere including when the shipped it to my town then back to the main city to be resorted and then back to my town. (Why it needed to be resorted I don't know)
Package tracking is so much worse around Christmas.

You probably won't need it, but I have had REALLY good luck finding missing USPS packages after contacting the postmaster of the town the package was sent to. I recovered a pair of glasses that the company said was "impossible" to find and a box that my sister sent to a nonexistent address, just from emailing them. Don't worry yet!
Usps doesn't scan packages when they get super busy so I'll get stuff that was never scanned at all around the holidays. Try not to stress (easier said than done, I know).
Also, remember they will tell you they offer "delivery confirmation" not tracking. I don't think it's abnormal for something to not show until it's delivered.
