Which is really early and totally unexpected, but we did the MaterniT21 test and apparently now they include the baby's sex in the results if you want it.

I'm getting there. Pregnancy nausea and fatigue are easing up a bit, but pregnancy migraines have kicked in, which is no fun at all.
I'm also in the "if you know I'm pregnant I have a cute little pooch, but if you don't know I'm pregnant what a chubby little thing I am" stage, which is also just super.
But it comes with the territory and I am rolling with it!

alzi - it's pretty new and isn't covered by insurance yet, but the max out of pocket is $235, so we decided to go for it. It's a 99% accurate screening for Down Syndrome, and Trisomies 13 and 18. Many women of AMA screen inaccurately high for these, so we decided to just go this route.

gretchen - I think it's going to sky rocket in the next few years. Right now it only tests for those three trisomies, but they're doing research now into seeing if they can identify other birth defects and genetic abnormalities. They only just added the sex piece like a week or so ago, so already they're starting to offer additional information. It's very exciting stuff from a scientific perspective.
PS - how are YOU feeling alzi? You're in the second tri woman!
i made it!! lol
i'm feeling pretty good. i randomly still have the tiredness hit me, but i've entered the bottomless pit stage. i have a pooch after a big meal, but nothing really going on yet.
that is awesome about that test. if they had offered that to me, it would have been cheaper than doing the NT bc i pay for scans and labwork.
do you have a feeling either way? i totally don't. at all. lol

I'm so glad you're feeling better!
They didn't offer me the test, but I found out about it on my own and requested it. Insurance doesn't usually cover it, but Sequenom - the group that does the test - has said that although the test is quite a bit more expensive ($2,000) they won't charge more than $235 out of pocket for people with insurance.
I'm still doing the nuchal fold ultrasound per the genetic counselor's suggestion, but not the regular blood work they usually do with it.
I thought girl at first, but I've been feeling really strongly boy the past few weeks. H and the rest of my family are all convinced it's a girl, though.

tiny - I'm waiting until the second tri to add a ticker. Plus, I know there were some people who were feeling sad about trying and not being pregnant yet, so I wanted to wait a few weeks before adding it since I found out I was pregnant right around the time there was a post about this.
que - Aw, that's awesome and so so nice! I'll keep you updated!
How exciting! We did CVS and the peace of mind was great. That sounds like a fantastic option, especially given the lack of risk since it is a blood test. Neat.
