Damn. I can't imagine filling out a piece of paper and mailing it to an address. Then waiting for the item to be mailed to you. Bonus points if you remember the last thing you ordered through the mail.
Probably those CD clubs. Remember the Penny's and Sears catalogues? Huge like the phone book and so much fun to look through. We used to circle what we wanted.
Yes!!!! I also remember doing it over the phone when I got my first credit card at 18. Victoria Secret and... another more "teenage" catalog that was popular. What was that??? I can't remember. So much crushed velvet, patent leather and chokers.
I think about that every now and then- when I actually filled out the order forms and had to wait several weeks, and when I got to CALL them and get it quicker, it was amazing. Now....so spoiled! So so so spoiled. I get annoyed when it's not here in 2-3 days. I seriously need to evaluate myself.

This. But it was a Christian version in 1999. Then they billed me for like $100 and my mom called and ripped them a new one for trying to charge a 13 year old $100 for 2 CDs. Lol
Also, I found some old paperbacks and there were forms at the end of the book you could fill out and mail in to place an order. No option for paying by CC. Checks or money orders only.

And the Sears Catalog Wishbook, with all the toys! That was the best!

I had such an awesome outfit from Delia's. Plaid polyester pants, blue suede platform shoes and a creamy white pleather jacket. When I type that out, I cringe. But I swear at the time it was AWESOME!

I remember poring over the Sears catalog and being so excited when I'd get to order a few things for the start of the school year. We'd have to do it in early July because it took 4-6 weeks to get delivered. And you better hope it fit, because there was none of this "order 3 sizes and send the rest back for an instant refund". If it was too big I wore it, if it was too small it got passed down to my sister. I think the last time I ordered from Sears I was in high school (I'm 39 now). We lived in the middle of nowhere and opportunities for mall shopping did not happen often - maybe twice a year.
