Over the summer, my daughter asked to get her ears pierced. I was thrilled because I love earrings but waited for her to want it. The piercing place told me 8 weeks of no swimming. I told my daughter we would do it after swim season instead. Since then, she seems to have forgotten about it.
Anyway, she is on a year-round swim team so it is always swim season, but we are less committed during the winter, so Santa is going to leave earrings!
8 weeks is still a long time to take a break though and seems kinda excessive?
If you pierced your ears while being on a swim team, how long did you take off? I know they have to give me a safe answer because better safe than sorry, just curious if 8 weeks is the reality or if it ends up being okay at 4, barring any issues?
I just got a piercing (I had my daith done, so ear but not ear lobe) and they said stay out of the pool for 3 weeks. 8 weeks seems really excessive, but I agree with mrs.jacinthe - ask the pedi.

I think chlorine would require the longest wait of the three, but even so, 8 weeks does seem excessive, unless they're thinking that the earrings would have to be removed to swim.
I didn't take any time out of the pool when I got 2nd holes in my ear lobes. I was in high school then and lol to 8 weeks out of the water! There wasn't a point in the year when I took 2 weeks.
I got my original holes done in elementary school and I think I swam through that too but can't remember specifics.
ETA: I have seen a sign at our pedi's that they do ear piercing in the office. I think if/when Hobbes wants hers done I'll have the pedi do it. Easy to get advice on care too
DD#1 got her ears pierced last year and didn't take any time off. She swims 4 days a week and we didn't skip any. She hasn't had any problems with them.
