Seen:
Manchester by the Sea Moonlight La La Land Nocturnal Animals Elle
Would like to see:
Loving Jackie Fences
I really think the Best Picture race is going to be between Moonlight and La La Land (I predict both will win their best film category at the Golden Globes). I saw both this weekend - I really liked both movies, but for totally different reasons. La La Land is happy and you just feel good watching it. Moonlight is incredibly heartbreaking.
Elle will probably win the best foreign language film category - it was a good movie and Isabelle Huppert was awesome in it. Casey Affleck may bring home a trophy for Best Actor - he was really good in Manchester by the Sea, and I don't see Ryan Gosling winning for La La Land. He was good in it, but Affleck just nailed it in Manchester.
I've since seen La La Land (was a cute movie, didn't get the hype) and Lion (definitely a tear-jerker, but that's about it).
Now I'm going to see Hidden Figures and Fences. I'll probably skip Hacksaw Ridge. I've heard great things about Hidden Figures, so best picture might be a 3 way race between that, Moonlight, and La La Land.

I haven't seen much:
Hidden Figures The Arrival Loving Moana Zootopia
DH has seen more, as usual. I really want to see Moonlight and Lion. I deliberately passed on Manchester by the Sea because the trailer itself was tear-jerking enough. I would love if Ruth Negga won for Loving, she was amazing. The guy in that was fantastic too, I wish he had gotten a nod.

Totally agree about Ruth Negga and Joel Edgerton. Both were really good.
Moonlight is probably the best film I saw last year, so I hope you get a chance to see it!
