It's not really a grievance per se but I'm really curious about what all the old regulars who used to sit and post on here 24/7 are doing with their free time now (tamb, this, vicmo, starry, lhc, among others).
Oh my, please don't accidentally Beetlejuice them back! LOL 😂
LOL. Starry is the one I am really wondering about... she needed so much validation and commiseration it was painful.
I agree. I wish we could actually have debates vs the echo chamber business that is happening.
Maybe we need more current events and less politics for a while. Trump is still the devil. Posting/reading about it all day isn't good for anyone.
All of this and it has really bothered me for most of this past year. I didn't want to ask any questions for fear of a pile-on. I'm here because I want to learn and discuss but feeling like you are an idiot isn't helpful or conducive to learning.
I am all about differing opinions as long as someone isn't a bigot. I will cape for you ALL DAY LONG if you want to post something NOT in this echo chamber.

don't worry, mostly I'm just curious if they're suddenly kicking ass at work now that they're not on here posting all the time. I always wondered how starry, v, this, etc. were able to post as much as they did but still do well at their jobs, lol.

There are times when I'm bummed that I only discovered this board this year, and then I read some of the old stuff people refer to and I'm like, "Nah. I'm good..."
I am all about differing opinions as long as someone isn't a bigot. I will cape for you ALL DAY LONG if you want to post something NOT in this echo chamber.
The bold should have gone without saying, but yeah........
CHILE you know how it goes around here. We have weekly issues. I mean what's with the poster on ML crying about someone installing a door playing White Supremacist stuff on the radio but her husband wouldn't say anything? Bish please!
I'm not a super reg by any means, but I agree with PP about the echo chamber effect going on here. I started reading here years ago and enjoy it but I recall during the primaries being really turned off. It was so bizarre
"I really want to hear from dissenting opinions! but WHY do people like Bernie, please tell us!" "well.. I don't know.. I mean I like his passion, I like his honesty. I like the vision he has for this country and I guess he just seems like a genuinely good guy. Also, I don't know .. having another Clinton in the white house just doesn't sound ideal right now.. maybe a "newer" face would be better .." "umm actually you are SO WRONG. It is HILLARY who is passionate and honest. And she has a better vision for the country. Also, he's just as established as her so that argument is also false" "umm ok then. but ..." "really they need to teach critical thinking in schools!! so everyone else would then know Hillary is the best as well" A few days later ... "I encourage any Bernie supporters to speak up now and tell us why you support him! We really want to know!"
Also the hysterics after the election and still now are insane to me. Not just here but IRL too with my upper middle class white lady friends. I mean, there are people who are justified in feeling great fear, increased fear, in the face of this trump presidency and the general unrest in the country. Like, POC, LGBT, disabled, etc. But why are most of the tears (or at least the talking about tears) coming from rich white ladies? It doesn't seem authentic, it just seems silly. Like my MIL sending me twelve articles a day about trump. I don't read them then and I don't read them here. Who is trying to convince anyone trump sucks?! we all hate trump. What's the point of all of the ruminating and article sharing??
Sure it's sad and all but hey, as soon as trump negatively affects our sheltered privileged lives, we can take solace in the fact that all the poorer and darker people than us in this country has have their lives ruined much sooner. Many of them probably dead too before we have to start rationing lularoe orders or butter or whatever. cheers!
The last couple of times I posted a, "Y'know, it wasn't all just about HRC being a woman that had people not voting for her," just to see the wall of text on how I was wrong. Is that more of a confession? HRC was a flawed candidate, but gawd knows we couldn't discuss her faults.
Also, I vehemently disagreed with Bernie, and I wasn't shy about posting it. So I know I'm not an angel in that regard.

How many times have I said this? How many? And I also warned that if Clinton, her team, and her supporters did not start realizing that they would lose. But...
Whatevs. I'm gonna hate on Bernie 'til the cows come home. Old dude needs to fuck right off.
Not even sorry.
Liking just because it made me LOL.
Also, hey guys, did you know that starry's kids weren't good sleepers?? Because its all we ever heard about and don't you dare comment about it ever!!!
I also don't feel sorry for hating Bernie. He helped elect Trump and he would have lost too, but probably to a different candidate because I think the Rs would have taken that convention floor fight to elect someone other than Trump so they could run against a socialist that they had a several feet tall paper stacks of opposition research on including videos of him with Sandinistas (I think that's right). He wasn't even a fucking Democrat and he hijacked the primary and was and still is a jackass even if he has an occasional good point.
He was also a total asshole baby at the convention.
None of this absolves the mistakes or criticisms of the DNC for coronating Hillary, relying completely on demographics are destiny OR the mistakes the Hillary campaign made. But Bernie was not some super special unicorn and there were a zillion very valid criticisms of him starting with the fact that he is not a Democrat and ending with his ridiculous fucking behavior during the convention. He validated every criticism of him with that bullshit. Hillary was never a perfect candidate and had plenty of flaws. She also fucked up in 2008 and the dnc way overcorrected to avoid a drawn out primary battle in 2016. But you didn't see her demanding and getting concessions that made Obama's nomination all about her either.
I'm not even a Democrat and that convention bullshit still sends rage through my veins.
Also I'm not worried about myself. I'll be fine even if my husband loses his funding and we have to figure out where to go from there. But I am worried and I will continue to read and post articles because I see it as my civic duty to stay informed so I can fucking fight even if I lose the fight when all is said and done.

I know you did! Many times. We were never allowed to discuss her faults. It's hard to get a good picture of a candidate when you worship them as a deity. Which is why I finally had to check myself as "do not add" to the nationwide PSN group since people kept adding me. I had to leave that group so many times. (I joined the local one after the election in the hopes that it'd turn into an action network. Spoiler alert: It hasn't.)

I read way more than I post because most times I have nothing new to add or I feel like the stupid kid in class and don't want to make that obvious to everyone else.
My grievances are more general, and more like rhetorical questions.
Why are people such assholes? Why do people care what others do in their bedroom? Who decided your religion was the "right" one? Why can't I remember why certain posters flounced? Why do I care about why they flounced except I am nosy? Why can't I have eclaires' life?
I will say, this place has given me some of the biggest laughs of all time. I don't think I will ever forget the bru-ha-ha over mx accidentally stealing a Christmas tree (I think that is what it was). Or Nugget's sister! #BLESSED
I am still not 100% sure of the difference between a long john or an eclair and I still LOVE otters even though they are baby seal rapers.
I mostly want to thank you ladies for making me (appear) smarter and opening my eyes to my white privilege bubble.

I feel like many Clinton supporters have the same issue as #45 supporters. They feel that if they admit that there is anything wrong with their chosen candidate they are showing support for the other. So they can't admit to anything. I am seeing it now with all the conflict of interests and hacking stuff. No one is saying that if you think this is wrong (which it is) that you want Clinton to be president. And no one is saying that if you admit to Clinton's faults you want #45. But neither side can have an honest discussion.
Well, I guess my grievance is that I think there is some revisionist history going on here. I think plenty of people recognized and talked about Hillary's flaws. I think they just also thought she was worlds better than Bernie and galaxies better than any of the GOP candidates.
I think there is also an element of not wanting to criticize your own, which I think most people here can relate to. There were plenty of places online and IRL where people could here alllllll about Hillary's flaws. I don't think anyone was unaware. I think a lot of people enjoyed having a place where they could talk about her strengths without the Bernie Bros or the Trumpkins coming for them.

OH! and Coke Dick was THE BEST! I still giggle about people ADMITTING on a PUBLIC message board to snorting coke off random dude's dick and not telling their husbands about it and THEN getting all butt hurt when people on the PUBLIC message board brought it up.
Look - I have skeletons in my closet. I will never run for a public office because of them. But I know enough to not tell a fucking PUBLIC MESSAGE BOARD about them and then get all upset when people mention it.
Like Judge Judy says, Beauty fades but stupid is forever (and so is the internet)
Weeks ago I made a post AWing my daughter. But the board ate it. I haven't felt like bothering to write it all out again so I haven't but on the other hand I'm sad because I want to aw her adorableness. I can't believe it has been over a month already.

Well she is beautiful and I hope you rewrite it. And I adore her name.
Oh and the tapatalk app is annoying! There are ads everywhere and I can't decide if I want to pay $5 for a year of no ads or $15 for a lifetime of no ads. And I'm bitter that I paid for the proboards app and then they quit supporting it.
And the notifications are never timely or accurate!

Obviously YMMV.
I know we aren't going to agree here, but I don't think so. I can't remember who it was, but I remember one time I posted why I thought it wasn't just sexism and some poster was flat out like NO you are wrong. And I get people wanting a safe space when whatever they have going on IRL is a constant afront to their beliefs, but by having a Clinton-safe space it pushed everyone else out.
And I am someone who hates the fact that Sanders ran as a Dem. I think it was selfish and he just wanted to money. And I don't care that the DNC was pushing for Clinton because I don't blame them for wanting an actual Democrat as a candidate. And I don't think that they should have tried to placate the Bernie Bros. because they should learn something about governing and politics and create their own damn party. But I felt like there was a bunch of rah rah Clinton and a small minority calling out the issues. Isn't this why sbp was run off? I missed when the final thing happened, but she was all about those speaking out against Clinton not knowing what was best for them. And she wasn't the only one spouting that.

There wasn't any actual coke on a dick. That part was gbcn embellishment.
ETA: I don't have any real grievances other than disbelief over what certain no-longer-with-us posters decided to dibble down on. I mean, didn't they learn anything at all from the 237 other nest/gbcn implosions?

well I specifically remember getting yelled at for saying it was basically an open secret that HRC's SS detail thought she was a major B. I was told it was all sexism, men fearing a powerful woman, etc.

No. I didn't dare post anything that was even slightly critical of HRC, and I've been able to voice non-popular opinions before and ride it out.
This speaks more to the change of tone in the board than anything. I generally hate the navel gazing "it was better in times of yore" posts, because it wasn't better... BUT having a differing opinion around here is really uncomfortable. People don't debate anymore. It gets personal, quick. I don't know how to fix it, either. Maybe that's why I've felt that we need to get more into more fact based discussions, and remembering to post links and trying to have people not post biased news anymore. I've also, personally, really tried to limit my pure reaction posts "OMG THAT'S TERRIBLE!" to include why I feel that way, etc. to invite more discussion.
Isn't this why sbp was run off? I missed when the final thing happened, but she was all about those speaking out against Clinton not knowing what was best for them. And she wasn't the only one spouting that.
No, she was run off because she was a liberal elite who wanted to suppress the voices of WOC on this board.
