So how was everyone's holiday? I actually had a little bit of drama in that my mom briefly met my dad's girlfriend at church in the morning and then found out I was meeting her for the first time at dinner. So she called me and told me to get the dirt on her. I was like uhhh, no I'm not getting in between anything. And she kept going on and on about how it was natural to want to know what she was like. And in my mind I was thinking umm no, I give zero shits about who my ex is dating. Anyway, she texted me today and didn't bring it up, thankfully. She even told my boyfriend to get inside info on her, ugh, so annoying. Moms, gotta love 'em.
My boyfriend and I have been dating for 2 years today, yay. I wasn't on call today, so I had the day off. We went to the gym, then lunch (holy shit we got whole fish at this greek restaurant that was good and was market price that ended up being $105 just for the fish...surprise! ) and then did a little shopping. So it was a nice day. And now of course he's packing up to travel tonight, luckily he'll be back this weekend and then only has 1 more trip to Europe before he's home for a little over 8 weeks!
I hope everyone had a great holiday! Love to you all.

I love this holiday season so much. We stayed home all day so I wore a caftan and was super comfy. DH and I cooked a delicious shrimp etouffe. I never made it before so while the kids played we read the recipe and delegated tasks. It felt like a little date. Today's my birthday 🎉 I have had a great day. Kids gave me breakfast in bed and we are heading home from a fun family day. I told dh that I was having a perfect day with the only folks I want to be with and he replied we are so different he would be kid free on his perfect day. I got a good one I tell ya. kicks your mom sounds funny. Glad your beau only has a short trip before a nice long stretch with you.
This holiday was great. We had breakfast in our new home with both families and it was perfect to be able to stay in our house. I made creme brulee French toast and it was really good. Then we went over to my extended family dinner for a short time and avoided any drama.
Every year my dad takes us out to dinner. It used to be New Years Eve but then we started having to work. So it was tonight. And it was also great. It has been such a wonderful holiday.

Holidays was decent. It was our year to be with the ILs. Even though we stayed in a hotel, we're headed home not a moment too soon. No drama per se, but just ready to go.
We'll have one last holiday gathering in mid-January with my family, and I'm looking forward to that. It's a family tradition to meet in January, so that everyone can see their ILs or whatever they have to do and not feel obligated to travel. Local folks still meet for Christmas Day brunch.

Good closing vibes @natariru, lets celebrate when I am up there!
Here is my random, some white person asked me my "nationality" TWICE! Saying " American" wasn't' good enough the first time. This was in my uber liberal neighborhood too!! They white liberals aint shit. The look I gave him when I repeated that I was American FOR THE SECOND TIME made him say " got it" . If you want to know if I am mixed race then just fucking ask but expect my side eye and a bit of goose-necking when I reply. I was with "H" so he was a bit too comfortable asking me genetic information.

I cannot express to you how much I wish work had mandated we take the time between holidays off. We don't have any support to complete the task that's due on the 3rd. And all the available training on this software is crap. *weeps*
Happy belated birthday @tooshort, thejackpot, skwcm80, and @natariru!
We've been at my ILs' house since Christmas Day. They live in the middle of the swamps of FL and it takes at least 35 minutes to get anywhere, one way. Since DH had to work the entire week while he was supposed to be on vacation, I've been a cranky, stressed out mess. Did I mention that my ILs' house is a death trap for kids? Everything is sharp and breakable. I keep forgetting this until we come down here and I have to corral my two crazies before they do real damage. Sigh. I cannot wait to go back home tomorrow. Oh and since my MIL told me they are not coming back for another week, I told my boss I am taking this whole next week off too since no one else can pick up the kids from school and watch them. I am looking forward to my Christmas present from DH, which is a night in a hotel all my myself. Glorious, wonderful, thoughtful man.
Wow that's a long time to be with your in-laws away from home. Safe travels back home tomorrow and I hope your week is stress free.
