My main goal is to just get faster. I see people post on here and other places. saying that their times are slow. I'm like eep! well if that's slow, then I'm really slow. Not sure what I need to do. Just keep swimming, increasing distance and working on stroke length and breathing.
I also want to do at least one open water swim a week when the open water season starts in the spring.
I would like to take a strokes class to learn alternate strokes. But honestly, I may not be able to squeeze that in since I have so much other stuff going on.
I did really start 2016 with any swimming goals. I think I had contemplated taking a class at some point. So I did that. I wasn't expecting to take up swimming, but I'm glad I did. It's been a fun challenge and something that I want to continue to improve at.
I keep thinking I'd like to get back in the pool, but it's so much easier to just work out at home with a LO, especially since we are very protective of her nap schedule. I didn't swim much in 2016, and since I am starting 2017 with more thoughts of running and yoga I'm not thinking I'm setting high enough sights to make swimming happen in 2017. Oh well.
Getting into the pool was a big step for me for 2016! My only goal for 2017 is to survive the swim part of my Olympic triathlon. I enjoy it, but not enough to cut back on my other workouts. I got a book of triathlon plans for Christmas and will follow the swim workouts in there.
I really only started swimming in June 2016. Jumped in for OWS for the first time in a triathlon. Did breaststroke for most of it. I've worked my way up to be able to swim 2.5km without stopping. I'm not fast, but that's fine. I swim twice a week (Monday and Friday) and I actually enjoy it.
Goals for 2017: swim 750m in 15mins (I'm at 16 and change right now). improve my technique - I have a LOT of work to do on this.
Today's swim was pretty ace - hardly anyone in the pool at all. Had a whole lane to myself! Amazing!

I finished a pretty good distance race in 2016. In 2017, I'd like to give back to the sport. I've got a start on it, as I was selected for the USMS long-distance committee this year, but I'd like to try to host a race if I can, as well as volunteer for some friends doing crazy distances. I don't know when/if I'll be cleared for open water again, so I'm just doing what I can in the meantime.
I'm taking another round of swim lessons that starts next Sunday. In 2016 I decided I wanted to learn how to swim and breathe correctly and I think I made pretty good progress. Now, in 2017, I want to finish the subsequent swim classes and learn all the proper strokes.
My swim goals are the same as my others: just to get back where i was. With swimming, it was always volume, and ive just gotten lazy. So i need to get back to consistently swimming, not sleeping through practice.
I have a goal...swim 1.2 miles and then be able to bike and run after.
I'd like to get faster. I've been generally focusing on volume and don't really push myself terribly hard. I find being in the water is just so relaxing that it's hard to push.
