I scaled back quite a bit in 2016, I wouldn't have made platinum except that my BFF was riding piggy back on my member numbers and bought a bunch of gifts for her teenage nieces at Ulta. I feel like for me, I'm at peak makeup. I have options I love for everything I feel like I need. I really want to focus on playing with what I have because a lot of it is under ultilized.
I've been focused on skincare, and I see that continuing, so it's not like I'm on a no-buy, but not much is coming from ulta/sephora so much as random custom's stamped packages from korea. I could do with an upgrade on my brushes so I'll probably do that at some point soon.

I'm trying to be more selective about what I buy this year.
I purged recently and I noticed I had a lot of looks pretty/everyone else owns it that never made it into regular rotation.
I'm trying to be more honest with myself about what my makeup habits are, not what I want them to be, and what I use regularly vs what is only used when the mood strikes occasionally.

Yeah. I finally realized that I don't like a wide variety of eye looks. I gravitate towards some kind of rose gold / gold / brown or purple look. And slap on a bold lip.

This is so spot on for me. I think I have reached maximum makeup capacity. My 2 focuses for the new year are 1) skincare and 2) finding a good, classic routine with reliable products. It's fun to try new things, but I find I lose focus and end up all over the board trying a variety and never get what I am looking for. Not to mention the fact that I have too much to sift through and it makes getting ready take much longer.

In moving to the new house I got rid of a lot of products. I'm liking it as it makes it easier to find things and use items. I am buying more skin care items but less makeup items. When I want to buy makeup, I have to either need it or really love it.

I'm definitely scaling back. I have vowed to get through a lot of the makeup I have this year or toss it and also not indulge with impulse purchases. Last year, I did ok but I still bought a couple of palettes I did not need. Once I work through the palettes, I have. I've decided to try single shadows - I basically stick to the same shades so I don't need to buy palettes when I end running out of certain shades and barely touching other shades.

I'm probably going to spend more. I'm trying to replace the stuff I already have with better stuff. I got introduced to high end makeup and haven't looked back. Honestly I'm glad I waited until adulthood to really get into makeup, I can see the teen me going into debt on makeup alone.
