Anyone else ever choose a way to better your character each year? I've only done this twice but I really appreciated the change I saw in myself through conscientious choice. One year I determined to be more compassionate and last year my goal was patience.
This year I'm resolving to avoid gossip, both listening and speaking. I don't know what one word to call that. How about 'Positivity'.
Anyone else want to do this? I guess it's a spin off of a resolution.

The word I am trying to focus on this year is peace. I want to find peace no matter what I am going through. I have a tendency to overanalyze and overthink everything. I want to find peace in whatever decisions I make. I hope this focus will help decrease my anxiety.

I've decided to go the one word route for 2017, too. My word is present.
I want to be present in each moment and keep my focus away from worrying about the past/future. I need to let the positive moments shine and not spend my energy on what could go wrong.

My word will be composure. I need to work on my anxiety issues. Mainly in large groups or extremely stressful situations. DH finally got to see one of my mild anxiety attacks yesterday, he didn't believe that I had them before hand. He know sees what I've been telling him so now with his support it may be better.
My word is free, and one of the things I am going to try to be free from is my major insecurities. I am going to try and stop thinking everone is judging me, I'm too fat, I'm too boring, I'm too awkward...and I'm just going to enjoy being me. I also want to be more financially free so we can give more this year.
I ALWAYS need to work on more patience. It's a forever work in progress.
My word for 2017 is drive. It should be a somewhat quiet year for us so I am going to work very hard to accomplish goals both personally and professionally.
Well through a few fb "quizzes" within the last week, I have been told that my word is: Passion! I believe this is great word for my 2017. I really need to harness my positive energy for good through passion for learning, passion for work, passion for travel, passion for life, passion for my husband, passion for exercise, passion for friends. Etc etc! I have felt I haven't been living as fervently as I could and should! This word will be great!
Mine is healthy. Cliché, but I really do want to focus on eating better and working out. I also want to do things that will improve my mental health like getting organized and declutter.
estrellita I just made a list of 12 things to de-clutter this year. One for every month to not make myself feel overwhelmed! Whoever wants to we could all post, in a new thread, to keep all of us accountable if people are interested. I also have to de-clutter/organize our place too!

suzv That same documentary is in my Netflix queue!
What is it called? I don't have Netflix right now but we've been debating getting it.
I recently told DH I sort of want to just get rid of everything except for about 10 things. He looked horrified. I know that's not realistic but sometimes it just seems like so much stuff around here and 75% of it I don't actually need.

The other day we had a fire scare and I was thinking which stuff I'd actually be heartbroken to lose vs. Fine going without or just replacing. It made me feel so overwhelmed with useless stuff. I also sort of just want to throw things out but thathe feels wasteful.
My 2017 word is Nourish. I want to nourish my body and physical health, mental health, our financial health, nourish my relationship with H, nourish our family as little girl becomes a part of it.

Anything you can donate or sell?
I have a bunch of stuff listed online for totally reasonable prices and it hasn't sold. Strollers, coats, baby stuff. I donate clothes we don't need to a local women's shelter. The other stuff that overwhelms me is stuff like extra furniture in our basement, craft supplies (so many little pieces!), the kitchen tools I only use a few times per year. Butt arrested invaluable those times.

Let me know if the items are still available at the end of the month. Our shower is the last Saturday, and I'm holding off on baby purchases til after I see what we still need.
amaranth, I totally hear you on the kitchen stuff. I have a steamer I haven't used in forever but I'm having a hard time parting with (if it were up to DH, it would have been gone a long time ago) I did recently agree to let go of a serving dish we don't need, it's going in the garage sale I'm planning to have with my mom this year
